I don't think the show is THAT bad
Since 2005, it has had its ups and downs but that's to be expected when you have a constantly evolving main cast, and a constant change of setting as well.
I haven't enjoyed the last three episodes of Doctor Who (
Closing Time,
The Wedding of River Song, and
The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe) but there were plenty of people who did. Before this, I absolutely loved the episodes before this (
Lets Kill Hitler,
Night Terrors,
The Girl Who Waited and
The God Complex) but there were many people who disliked some or all of those. No episode is going to appeal to absolutely everyone, and the sooner people realise that, the sooner we can maybe stop blowing opinions out of proportion and the sooner we can stop making ridiculous presumptions about the show.
Moffat's Doctor Who is tonally different from RTD's and one of the biggest changes has been the diversity of episodes... more unique locations, more opportunities, less Earth-based stories (and this is not a put-down of RTD, who I also feel did a brilliant job). Of course the downside to this, is that it plays a great gamble, as its more likely to divide the audience. There is a greater chance that a solid number of people are going to find something to dislike, as its trying something a bit more different week on week.
One of the greatest things about being a regular viewer of Doctor Who (I don't like the word 'fan' :P ) is that you can walk away from some episodes feeling disappointed, but can go on to the next one and be shockingly impressed, breathing new life into your enthusiasm. Sure, I'm not too fond of the last three episodes we've had, and as such my interest in the show isn't at its peak... but I'll come back to watch Series 7 when it starts next year and will likely find an episode that restores my enthusiasm and interest once more.
