If you have an *apple device don't forget to download this app. It's a free app every day for 12 days starting today!

First gift: Coldplay iTunes Festival

*Requires iOS 4.3 or later

Yep it's a Coldplay EP from the iTunes festival London with 3 songs & vids. If you don't have the 12 Days of Christmas app you can get it from here (today only): http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/itu...11/id478017658

Great app and nice for Apple to do this. Love Coldplay so Day 1 is great for me.

Requires iOS 4.3 or later !!!

Unless the app is an all singing all dancing animated extravaganza (therefore limiting it to iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 3rd gen or later), I can only assume the iOS 4.3 restriction is to prevent those of us with older i devices from running the app to find what is free today.

That's rather mean of Apple, season of good will and all, but not to those who have an i device over three years old-- even though all the music and movies, and probably also all the apps will play fine on those older devices, they've made an app to promote the freebies but deliberately excluded anyone who hasn't bought a new Apple product recently (and just to be sure I tried the previous year's version of the 12 days app, and it fails to load any data). Oh well, I'll do it the old fashioned way and load iTunes to see what is free today.

yeah seems shocking behaviour. We tried earlier with our 2nd gen itouch to be basically told "bugger off, we dont want you"

All the free stuff is available to download without the app anyway.

Ahh, I didn't realise that, well at least folks won't have something else to complain about!

There's a link in the second post to today's Coldplay download.

Today's free downloads are:

Top Gear: The Middle East Special (my favourite one yay).
The Trip: Hipping Hall
Microkorg

Downloaded the app, saw Coldplay were the first freebie & promptly deleted the app

Coldplay are dire

I'm rather underwhelmed by the first two offerings, lets hope it gets better. Mind you, i only downloaded two of the twelve last year. It was all a bit meh.

BTW, does anyone know already what's going to be given away?. I'm sure last year someone posted a list before it even started.

Direct link for the Trip and Top Gear if anyone wants to download it (today only)

Yeah, I seem to recall someone posting a list like that too.

Also, in response to my remark about the 12 Days of Xmas app not running on older devices

I did end my original post with

Quote:
“Oh well, I'll do it the old fashioned way and load iTunes to see what is free today.”

so it should have been clear that whilst the 12 Days app doesn't work on older devices, you can still get whatever is free without it.

So far I'm not impressed, Top Gear is on Dave on a continual loop, music is nice to get a legal copy of should you be lucky enough to actually want whatever is free, so it's the apps which I'm most interested in.

I'm happy with Top Gear and The Trip, both quality programmes.

Unfortunately Day 3 is a Lady Gaga single.

Yep it's Lady Gaga - Marry the Night - single with video.

I already have the album version of the song but I see it includes a remix and the video. I might download it.

Not that impressed at all really. Let's see so far:

- Coldplay - ugh and tedious
- Top gear - ugh and jokey racist which isn't my bag
- Lady GaGa - ugh and sings like it's 1987 (when 1987 did it better)

I'm away for the rest of the period but am not that upset...

I don't like the first two offerings but I will probably download Lady G, although she's not an artist of choice.

Bit bizarre behaviour today for the Ga Ga free download!

I only got the single, no video, and when retrying it tells me I already have. It's no where to be seen on my iPad or iPhone.

Some others I know, it also happened to them, just got the single?

I just got the single too. I get a 30 preview clip of the video only. Shame wouldn't have minded it.

I downloaded both, including the whole 13 min 55 secs of video...blimey!
