yes and no. its not a bad tablet but it did suffer compared to other tablets like the transformer and galaxy tab which is why it ended up being discounted so much. But for current price its a good buy.

I have one and I am well pleased with it. The only complaint I have is the virtual impossibility of selecting text in a quoted reply with the pair of green arrows, which have a mind of their own (if they decide to appear at all).

Just got the Xoom 32GB from CPW for £250.

£250 was always my limit for a tablet. I like the look of the HTC flyer but 7 inch is too small but £200 is a good price.

Playbook at £170 is nice but again too small and non android so no thanks!

Same for me,£250 was my price point, and typing this on it,the hour hassle getting it was worth it.
For CPW debacle see Hot Uk Deals.

As to copy problems with stock browser try another using Dolphin.

Not sure what CPW were up to. Got mine for £250 even though in the shop it was displayed at £329. They discounted for like 1 or 2 days and then put it up again.

Only downside is a few apps I can get on my Samsung SGII are not available, things like BBC iPlayer, ITV on demand etc, also Skype doesn't work for video calling which is a pain. Read it's getting ICS at some point so that's a bonus!

The ITV Player app can be sideloaded, if you can get a copy of the .apk file. As for Skype Video calling works fine on my Xoom

Really, I see my own camera on the Xoom until my friend connects and then just a black screen and my picture becomes black too, checked online and it seems to be an issue with Xoom users so presumed everyone has the same problem. They are connecting from an iPad so wonder if that makes a difference?

PS how do you load .apk files, is there a tip to where they are stored or something?

Basically, you download the apk. and then copy it over to your memory card or internal storage. You then locate the file and open it.

You have to ake sure your device will install non-Marketplace apps though. To do this go to Setting > Applications andtick the "Unknown sources" box.

Brill thanks, found one for the iPlayer too so will give them both a go tonight.

The Xoom is a good tablet, for £250 its a bloody great tablet. However if you can wait, and have a load of cash, the transformer prime will be out soon. I also read a rumour (cant remember where now), that samsung will release a new tablet soonish.

Both of these wont be cheap, circa £500 but they will be cutting edge.

iPlayer will not work on the Xoom. The app will load and you will be able to select a video to watch but it will not play.

Another quick tip. If you have a Dropbox account, you can download the apk file on your computer, pop it into your Dropbox folder, open Dropbox on your Xoom (presuming the app works) and just tap to install. That's how I do all my Android side loads. Quick and easy.

Agree with that.

Don't need "the App".

I love my xoom...
Did have a £600 laptop but hardly used it in a year...
so sold it before xmas and changed to a tablet..
was torn between Ipad or droid, in the end went for the xoom as was on offer in Argos at the time for £300...
And I use it all the time, so much that I have to charge it almost every night... and the kids love it too....
