Can you please shut up with the gay innuendo stuff!
The Christmas Special just about did it for me.
The 'real fairy' comment and Bruno's mince pies. 'Bruno knows a lot about mincing'. And more Russell Grant than is feasibly allowed by European law. I don't mind the odd nudge-nudge but it's all so terribly tedious now. BBC, please, everyone else knows it's nearly 2012. We've had civil partnerships for 6 years and gay luvvies have been showbiz backbone for....probably for ever. It's not big or clever to harp on about it. Do shut up. |

It felt a bit like old episode of Are You Being Served! Of course we have no way of knowing if Bruno and/or Russell were offended by the comments? If so it makes what was said appalling, but right now it's just a bit of tedium that really belongs in the past.

Perhaps allowances should be made for the two of them having seemed to have made a career on the basis of homosexuality and exaggerate their campness.

The 'Christmas Show' was irredeemably naff. I watched it on fast forward. In fact the only gorgeous thing on it was Simon from Blue. The rest was utter tat! |

SCD seems stuck in the dark ages of very bad British comedy circa 1970. I also hate the pathetic homophobic jokes and innuendo. If you're not comfortable with something let's just poke fun at it? Typical anal British reaction to something you secretly don't approve of. Not funny and not clever. They really need to move on. Totally agree with you Espion.

Erm...I think their careers are based on a little more than that :
I am not sure what talent Russell Grant is supposed to have. |

Russell Grant is gay??!! This was most certainly not his only apparent personality trait throughout the entire show.
In total agreement with the OP; the 'GAYLOLZ' this series were tedious in the extreme, not to mention incredibly archaic. |

I suspect ultimately all this comes from Moira Ross, from her command that Strictly needs to show a sensation a minute, with comic video clips, wall-to-wall props, four 10's, audience standing ovations. If there is one quiet moment it must be filled with gay jokes from Bruno and Craig as close to the edge as possible.
No wonder Brucie needs a lie-down in a darkened room after the first half, probably doctors orders.

The Christmas Special was just so puerile.
It's one thing not making a secret of being gay but the ludicrous 'On The Buses' era gags should be a thing of the past, surely! I don't think Craig or Bruno are professional 'gay' men in the way that.... I was going to say Julian Clary is an example of being professionally gay but I'm not even sure about him. He's funny. I just found it really pathetic and objectionable. And if I were Russell Grant I'd be a bit more concerned about my dignity than my bank balance. Camping it up is a lot of fun for everyone (or maybe that's just me) but he is starting to look foolish. |

I cringed at the remark Brucie made to Bruno, completely uncalled for and un-neccessary..... but i think he is the one that writes the scripts and jokes isn't he?, so i dont think things will change anytime soon!... it certainly does seem like his sence of 1970 'humour'......
![]() Others would have stop making ageist jokes against Bruce. |

For all those concerned that Craig and Bruno should not be subjected to the odd 'gay' remark; perhaps if Craig refrained from camping it up and calling everyone 'Darling' and if Bruno stopped pursing his lips and salivating at every young 'hunk' there may be some sympathy for your comments.
From what I can see, they seem to revel in it. |

I'm not worried about Craig and Bruno in the slightest, and I wouldnt be at all suprised if 'the grant' didnt in fact insist upon the 'campest fairy in the cosmos' tag that was rammed down our throats. For me it's more a case of being bored and a bit insulted by the very dated 'ho ho, a man who likes other men' humour. It's lazy and just not funny.

I am not sure why Russel Grant would be offended when his whole working persona ( I say working because I dont know the private man ) is based on campness and he made damn sure to show us his campness every second he could .
Craig makes it his business to be camper than camp and seems to base his persona on it too What I find a bit off putting is Bruno leering at Harry and passing remarks about his body .Is that ok with straight men to have gay men leering at them ? I ask this in innocence as I dont know actually if it is ok . Then again I hate Len leering at the girls too , so I guess its just the leering I hate . |

Bruno seems to leer fairly equally at male and female.
"Why, Miss Jo-o-o-o-nes...". It's rather tasteless and I hope he stops. |

I agree with those saying that noone should be taking offence on behalf of Craig, Bruno or Russell. That's not to say people can't say that they are offended, and find Strictly humour dated. Just that it should be on their own behalf, not on behalf of those who appear to be complicit in the jokes. And to be fair the OP did seem to be expressing their personal opinion, rather than trying to speak up for Craig etc. |

Caught up with the Christmas Special this morning. Have to say that I found Russell's fairy bordering on the grotesque rather than the amusing.

I thought Bruce went too far with his alleged gags on Sunday night. And thank goodness Moira Ross is leaving - if she is telling Bruce to do these tasteless gags in the name of ratings and money then she is a poor excuse for a person let alone producer

I think this all goes some way to defining why I find Brucie tedious, boring and ready for retirement: the humour is so elderly. There's no real wit, there's no smart humour... it's all nudge nudge... weak weak.
I don't think Bruce is capable of anything different and that is why I'd prefer him to go. Not ageist, just that his "humour" and presenting style has proved utterly fixed in ancient history. |

I agree, the jokes are pretty disgusting and they make me shudder every time Bruce opens his mouth and spews forth yet another one
Why is this allowed to continue? I always thought 'well, live show, perhaps he said that on his own and not scripted' (like that horrific time he asked Anton if he'd 'danced with many nancies' ) but the Christmas show - prerecorded - just proved that they allow him free reign with the homophobic 'jokes'.The whole thing ruins my enjoyment of watching the show. |
