I thought i was the only one feeling this way. but i feel very grossed out by derek also. perhaps for different reasons to you though. But i have noticed i cant eat when derek is on my screen. something about the way he goes on which puts me of my food. In tonights episode i was feeling sorry for Rainy and wondering how she could snog him.All I know is that if Eastenders are trying to hint that he was/is some kind of nonce, they're doing a pretty sound job. |

Lol, we are one and the same! I was eating a feta and tomato salad this evening during the show and I seriously had to stop eating whenever he was on. I mean yeah he's clearly overweight and unattractive but not so freakishly so that I'd stare at him in the street or anything. I can't work out quite what it is that so puts me on edge but it's pretty powerful, given that he's basically nothing but soap opera pixels on a screen.
All I know is that if Eastenders are trying to hint that he was/is some kind of nonce, they're doing a pretty sound job. lol this i observed through out the years and funnily enough it was always true eww! i get put of derek because he fits this discription and his mannerisms dont help. |

LOL they sure are. I reckon for me its dry shiny bottom lip. i associate that with bad breath. one of my brothers once told me when we were younger 'Sis you can always tell if someone has bad breath by looking at their bottom lip, if its shiny, or partialy discoloured in some areas then they do'

So watching on BBC3. I think Phil should go to prison but I doubt he will. It's 'king' Phil which means that he won't go to jail and the courts (if it goes to that) will rule in his favour, or he'll know someone on the inside to blackmail, and so on, and somehow he'll get revenge on Denise for giving the USB stick over and not get caught, etc.
Antony doing his 'panic' mode about the fireworks just proves that Matt can't act. And don't get me started on Alfie. Irritating as usual. Glad Yusef has finally gone so the Masoods can get back together properly. They are a good family when they aren't apart and deserve some better storylines than the whole Yusef stuff they've been stuck with for the past year! |

I'm not taking to Derek Branning at all. I find him boring and smug. I wish he'd sod off.
There was far too much of him and the Moons tonight for me to enjoy the episode. Shame as Eastenders has been so good lately. |

Phil will worm his way out of this pretty soon, but he does face another enemy in the coming weeks.

I usually like a good villain or gangster but Derek just makes me squirm. Some of it is the way he is around women and the way he talks to them. He is so patronising and dismissive it's like he's walked out of the fifties. No manners, no charm or style...nothing to like. When I first saw him I called him a bullying toad and I've never changed my mind.

That arrest scene was such a poor edit they should have cut it before or a couple of frames after, a bit too jumpy and punchy for my editing taste.
&& I can't just be happy he is dead. he's my crush and I know Zee and Masood can have their lives back. I want my crush back ![]() ![]() ahahah

Out of interest, would they really let a burns patient lay face down on the side of their face that has been burnt?

Alfie is such a shit, for real. I hate so much about the things he chooses to be. I feel like like switching off whenever he comes onscreen, and I really don't get how Kat puts up with him.
I'm really curious as to where they're going with Derek. I've watched Jamie Foreman in tons of things and he's never had this effect on me. Derek really really REALLY grosses me out in a really strange, visceral way, I don't even quite know why. But the ick-factor he oozes coupled with the fact that both Pat and Michael seem genuinely afraid of him (and Michael seems repulsed to the point of literally physically darting away every time Derek touches him) and Michael's reaction tonight to Derek and Liam together is making me suspect they're going to go down a sinister route with the guy. Interesting observations about Michael and Derek - we have discussed this too on Michael's appreciation thread. I think if Derek is intended to be a longterm character, they will limit his ill-treatment of Michael as a child to physical and emotional abuse. That would be enough in Michael's mind to try and keep Liam away from him, considering all the issues Michael knows he himself has as an adult. If they went down the sexual abuse route, Derek would not be sustainable as a character, unless the sexual abuse came out much later. Clearly if it was discovered, the character would not last much longer.Quote:

I think he's doing a great job of taking over the gross, chubby middle-aged baddie mantle from Phil, but I can't understand how he would ever attract a woman unless he paid them. Rainie was in a bad place when she slept with him, that's the only excuse I can give her! |

Loved the episode. Scene with Pat collapsing at the end was so sad.
Loved all her scenes tonight, was nice to see her and Patrick together again too. Liked all the Janine scenes and Denise was brilliant as well, great acting from Diane Parish.Quote:

Wow. Good Episode. Derek will be the next big evil man at EastEnders I think. Besides Phil of course.
An alliance between Michael and Pat would be good. But we will not see this. Great to see that Patrick got the picture back. And the present from Pat. Great. The end was sad. 3 last Days for Pat. I wish we will see some interaction between her and Whitney and her and Dot in the next days.

I was quite shocked at that.
![]() It was good to see the Same amount of viewers tune in on Boxing day from Xmas day with 9.9m(the Boxing day episode had a bigger peak though) but i didn't expect Yesterday's episode to beat them both and peak at over 11m. Bolds well for Pats final episode on Sunday though. over 12million isn't out of the question (possible peak of 13m) |

Forgive me if this has been mentioned before, but I was shocked to see the Queen Vic customers and staff (ie. about 90% of the EE cast) partying away as if nothing had happened. The fatal fire was, what, just 24 hours ago?

I was thinking this. What was with Alfie being so happy clappy? You never would have guessed a fire had just ruined a whole family's lives.
