Wireless printing from an IPad 2....?
Zaphodski

It would appear that my daughters new gadget can not find my new Epson wireless printer. The PS3 can, my HTC Desire can and all the PCs can. Why are Apple such a wunch of bankers. Can anyone help me with a free solution to enable wireless printing from an IPad 2? Many thanks.

I think you'll find that you need whats known as an "air" printer, not just a wireless printer

Like these

Is 'Air' Apple's patented word for 'WiFi' + additional expense...? As it happens my new Epson SX235W is on the list so how do I pamper this Ipad to talk to it...?

Apple....makes my blood boil....

Looks as though for that model printer you have to use the epson iPrint app a free app available on the app store.

So its not a "true" airprint enabled printer

For AirPrint you need one of the (currently 128) compatible printers listed here : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356

For photo printing you can use Epson's iPrint app as said above, but this only works for photos in the phone's albums I believe.

There's also a workaround where an unsupported printer can be AirPrint enabled via a PC : http://tweaks.com/windows/46495/enab...rt-on-windows/

Neither of those are AirPlay compatible. If you can share them via a PC then you should be able to use the workaround I posted above.

I use a canon and I didn't have to do anything to get it to print from my iPhone and iPad. It even does double sided printing with no effort.

No. It showed up in your Amazon search result because you only searched for the word 'air', which the product's description contains.

The advantage of AirPrint is that you don't require device drivers.

There are however apps in the app store that allow you to print to many other printers.

I was trying to make a sarcastic remark, aimed at Epson/Amazon there as its being listed even under an air printer search, despite making no mention of it in the product listing nor is it listed on the apple site

I have a Kodak hero 5.1 (I think) you can not AirPrint to it but you can set up google cloud printing and then you can email anything you want to the printer from any where in the world. I find it works quite well. Obviously depending on what you want to print I have found the best way is to send a blank email with an attachment (that the printer likes) and the. It prints it.

This is notethe case with canon, I have printed dozens of documents and they have all worked first time perfectly fine, every bit as good as from Windows and OSX.
