well some lady gaga fans didnt like her 3rd album so it looks like her label wants her to go back to her earlier material she did in her first two albums. what do you think?

Personally, I hope its not true. I love the Fame Monster EP, I love all 8 tracks, but there is much more filler on The Fame than there is on Born This Way imo. I don't really understand this 'ailing sales' thing - she has the 3rd biggest album of the year?

Don't think it will make much difference, incredibly overrated... seems to the biggest artist in the world today but there isn't one song she's produced that I could listen to in 20 years time.

I hear people say Bad Romance is her greatest song... it sounds quite average to me. More about the image than the music really, but I suppose that is common in pop music.

I haven't liked either of her two albums, so I would hope she'd change direction again for her next album. Maybe include more percussion in her songs, and tone down the synth/electro, because EVERYBODY is doing electro music at the moment, and has been since 2006. So she needs to stand out a bit more, which will not happen if she goes back to her 2009 songs.

Some of you guys have no idea how annoying it is when you don't like the biggest pop star in the world lol. So I hope this isn't true and she goes in a different direction. If she makes songs like Just Dance again, she'll flop. LMFAO and Pitbull do those types of songs better atm.

That's not quite accurate.

If this is coming from where I think it is, the story is that the label are taking a bit more control after giving her free reign with Born This Way. They want her to be more commercial (i.e. more radio friendly, less intense, without the religious messages etc) not 'back to the old Gaga'.

The reduced sale stuff is logical being in their current position. MTN is stalling, they want to help it. I notice they didn't rake Katy across the coals for her price reductions and remixes.

Regardless, talk about selective reporting. What about ALL THE OTHER SINGLES BEING OFFERED FOR 49c? People are so bloody quick to have a dig at Gaga regarding this kind of stuff. One rule for her, another for everyone else seems to be the ongoing attitude.

I don't quite understand why you brought Katy Perry into this, but if we're going to talk about her, then imo Lady Gaga's record label should do like Katy Perry's management are doing. Lady Gaga has been releasing her music videos too early, and she seems to think she's too good to discount her songs. Katy Perry's management know exactly what they're doing with regards to saving music videos until later and their other promotion strategies, so good for them for the success they're having.

And also, you might not know about the ins and outs of how Interscope works, but Lady Gaga wouldn't have had full control over her album.

Interscope consists of lots of smaller record labels under the massive "umbrella" called Interscope. On Interscope, the only artists that ever get FULL control over their albums are those that are producers and heads of record labels. Lady Gaga is neither a proper producer nor the head of a record label within Interscope.

Dr. Dre is a producer and the head of a label within Interscope called Aftermath, so he can be fully in charge of his own albums (and all the artists signed under him, which include Eminem, 50 Cent and others). will.i.am is also a producer and a head of a record label within Interscope, so he can be fully in charge of his own album (and all the artists signed under him, including Natalia Kills, Fergie, 2NE1, LMFAO, Cheryl Cole, etc.).

I mentioned her, because I had a snoop to see if they felt the same way about Katy's single reduction/remixes...but they seemingly didn't, which is a double-standard. Furthermore, the double-standard continued with calling Gaga out on this 49c thing, yet neglecting to mention all the others also benefiting from it. It's an Amazon sale and has nothing to do with her, which is not what is being implied.

When I said "free reign", I meant relatively speaking. Obviously she didn't have ultimate full control over everything, but from what has been said by those involved (from Gaga, to the producers, to Akon and Troy at the label), she got left to do her thing creatively.

The last paragraph is probably true. Lady Gaga probably does get left with a lot of creative freedom to be honest.

The first bit, in my opinion, neither Lady Gaga nor Katy Perry should be criticized for discounts or remixes. So it's right that the website is not criticizing Katy Perry (she's done nothing wrong), and it's wrong that they are criticizing Lady Gaga (she's also done nothing wrong).

Did you know almost every #1 in 2004 and 2005 had a remix featuring a featured rapper? Katy is doing nothing new, and it's perfectly legal. Mariah Carey got DOZENS of #1s (literally) thanks to her remixes. Remixes are another thing that would help Lady Gaga in the singles charts. All the artists that did well in the singles charts in the past 10 years made extensive use of remixes with featured artists.

She has said it in a few interviews too, she wanted to go back to basic

Well, it ties in with what's going round now about the next album; a fan was DM'd by a reliable Interscope insider (they communicate often, so it's believable) that they were basically just reigning her in a bit.

I don't think that's particularly necessary though. Gaga is savvy and I'm sure she's aware of what worked, what didn't and how to improve without much 'forcing' on the label's part. She's even been generally dressing less extreme in the past few months, but maybe that's to not freak out her new boyfriend.

I'm not saying that either should be criticised or not, I'm just saying it's not fair to call one out for it and not with the others. It's a double standard.

A lot of people see TFM as her second album, technicalities aside.

It was either a deluxe or an EP neither of which is an new album.

She has made 2 albums, don't matter what people like to think, this is how it is.

Hence 'technicalities aside'. It's not a 'proper' album by definition, but a lot of people consider TFM as a stand alone piece of work that's more than just an EP or re-release. Including the Grammys.

It says a lot about a musician when they can pull off so many styles of music. As much as I love Britney, her style doesn't vary much. I'd hate Gaga to be the same.

I was impressed with BTW but not so much with TF. Idk why but the moment i hear just dance, it gives me a really bad headache.

its a 3rd album even though the fame monster was an ep i still count the fame monster as a second album.

I'm only a casual fan of Gaga, but I don't quite understand this. The songs on Born this Way aren't that different in style from her previous albums.
I don't agree that great musicians can pull off many styles of music. Most great artists have their own unique style. They don't go randomly copying every genre of music. They evolve but within their genre. Most artists have one genre of music that they do best and suits their voice the best. The key is finding their style and what makes them unique.
I like different kinds of music, but I don't want to hear different kinds of music from every artist. I like it when artists know what they do best and do that well and don't try to be something they're not.
I think BTW is a great album, but people are sick of her because she's too overexposed in the media. She needs to take a break and lay low for awhile.

So if anything i want her to progress the BTW style further, more intense beats, sledgehammering kinda Trancey retro styles i believe that is her style very much and it works for ehr.

What i detested before was....she dressed absurdly but the music was relatively normal catchy pop with nothing special to make you want to go back...then she got even more absurd and over exposed and over hyped so much it failed to live up to expectation for some fans come this year BUT also for casual lsiteners or detractors the sounds on her second studio album BTW worked with the image. SOmething very influenced by her own influences and accessable and retro in vibe too.

I want progression, not...oh thats not working lets go back to catchy Electropop songs....just no!

As for adapting to styles, and changing genres etc. I love i when an artist reflects versatility within their genres, and I love it when they show progression. You can see and hear the journey they are on. It is not random pickings but rather the adventure and the journey....not "this will sell for the sake of it".

I doubt she'll go back, but she'll probably combine the best parts of TFM and the best parts of BTW.

I see it as an EP or mini-album, like what I see The Saturdays' Headlines album as. Headlines was really an EP if you took out the three Wordshaker songs and just leave the new songs on it (Saturdays fans will know what I'm on about ).

I think it's the second biggest worldwide , so there are no ailing sales at all .

These are thw worst news I could receive tbh. It's true that some fans didn't like this album, but I also think that the majority of the LM liked it. And is her record label being serious? Go back to TF???? I only liked four songs of that album while I consider the rest of it pretty bad. I hated Gaga during TF era. Go back to TFM? Maybe, but I don't think fans would like that at all. There is only one song that sounds more or less like the "old Gaga" many people are asking to come back: Judas. I love that song but I remember several comments from fans saying "sounds too much like Bad Romance". You know, because of the Juda-Juda-Juda. So, I don't fans would be happy with that. If Iterscope forces Gaga to go back to her TF and TFM eras she would definitely suffer.

And come on, this is the era where I have read and heard more positive comments from music critics and music legends. She has earned the respect from many of them. Isn't that important for Interscope? :sleep:

And i think they're talking about singles, yes the album has sold alot in it's first weeks but TF stayed in the top 20's for weeks while BTW is already out of the top 40 almost everywhere...

When you look at the singles, Judas flopped, TEOG only succeeded in the UK and USA, You And I same, with minimal results though, and Marry The Night dodn't get to top 10 in the UK and barely scratched the top 30 in the US, while flopping in Europe...

She doesn't get her top 10 hits as easy as she used to,

Look at Holland, she reached top 10 with every single, while now only BTW did and Judas and TEOG didn't even make it into the top 20, and MTN and You and I didn't even make it on the chart...
