Rihanna accused of copying again for her 'You Da One' video.
Rihanna and her director Melina Matsoukas, more specifically. Melina was behind the video of S&M which was sued by David Lachapelle for plagiarism.
Time to ditch her, Rih. http://m.necolebitchie.com/2011/12/2...-da-one-video/ |

lol. Oh dear. I haven't even watched the video yet though, but I love the song.
Rihanna gets into a lot of plagiarism controversies I think. I remember there was one with the Rude Boy video too. And also there was this thing about the Unfaithful video ripping off a movie or something (boy that seems like a LONG time ago now! ).As a Rihanna fan, I just expect this now.

Not being funny it happened with Beyonce's video either these people are looking for money or these artist need to get their researchers to actually do some research or come up with a concept themselves because its frankly rediculous

This just goes to show that very few people in this kind of music business know real art. I'm not here to call out Rihanna for copying some boorish bint complaining about plagiarism whilst neglecting the limitations of sexual posing; if Rihanna's copying anyone it's Stanley Kubrick and Malcolm McDowell.
Odds are she thought the looks was good and never gave any real thought into the actual character she's really plagiarising, nor any of the connotations that go with the character. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LT-qRFxras...McDowell+1.jpg http://wakeywakeynews.com/wp-content...2/rihanna2.jpg The eye make-up, the bowler, the cane... I just don't see how she's trying to fit the character into the video or the song though? It's honestly like she just wanted to look edgy and reinvigorated a once-considered socially unacceptable piece of post-modernist cult fiction in order to do it, without once concerning herself with just who the character is, what he stood for, or how his character fits into either song or video. Rihanna's US fans might not be aware of this character, but her UK fans, where 'A Clockwork Orange' was a hugely popular book and film, are just as important and should make the connection, really. |

Oh dear.
Irony. I'll have to remember to read her topic later as the usual will no doubt be ranting that someone has dared to attack their queen. Should be a good nights reading and a laugh before bedtime.

Feel free to find legitimate lawsuits over plagiarism. |

![]() Anyway I think in this day and age almost anything can be claimed to be copied from something else. There isn't even any specific bits of You Da One video that stand out to be an original bit of "art".. whereas the dresses in S&M were clearly depicted as an art form. |

Hasn't Born This Way had about five lawsuits for copyright?
I so wish Madonna's camp had the balls to take Lady Gaga on. That would have been epic. We all know its Express Yourself! I'm sure I recall something about Judas too.. |

But I suppose the main issue was Madonna's ''Dance/Single'' remix of Express Yourself. Anyway, I don't think Madonna was bothered. |

One shouldn't confuse a legitimate lawsuit over plagiarism, with some random person going to the press about how Lady Gaga (or anyone) copied them. Some say they're suing, but it's a rarity if that ever materialises.
Do you not think there'd have been a slight bit more coverage if Lady Gaga was genuinely being sued? More than the initial Daily Mail article, for sure. Judas was accused of copying by three separate parties IIRC. One was somebody claiming ownership over the idea of a song called Judas (hers was called "Juda" but didn't sound remotely similar), another was the Korean girlband that had a similar production (IIRC) and then there was an act who called it out for ripping off her songs production...only to then look incredibly stupid because it was a riff available for free as part of a producers sample pack that they both used. You can't really just believe whatever is reported on. When you're a big star, you get "sued" (aka going to the press with little intention of actually filing a lawsuit) all the time by people who want a bit of attention. |

And let's face it, what's the chance that Gaga (herself) will have heard of a random Japanese girl group?

I'm trying to refresh my memory on that event, but finding it hard to actually locate anything...
edit: http://gagacheat.blogspot.com/2011/1...-by-south.html This is what has come up, but it has nothing to do with Judas? Plus, I love how it's basically saying that Gaga copied an obscure Korean girl band over Madonna. |

Also, even if the song was a copy of the Japanese girls' song, I'd imagine that RedOne does more producing than Gaga does, but of course he isn't the star so naturally doesn't get the blame...
