Home and Away Opening Credits for 2012
So, there's been no opening credits in Home and Away since the start of 2009, and Cameron Welsh said he was considering bringing them back for 2012. I really hope he does bring them back!
How does everyone think they should do the opening credits if he did bring them back? I think they should have them in the style of the 2000-2003 credits where each character was in a box with an underwater setting. or alternatively do the photoframe thing from 2007 and 2008. what do you guys think? or should they do something new altogether? |

I quite liked the photoframe thing, wouldn't mind if they brought that back.

I thought he intended bringing them back in 2011. I don't mind not having the opening credits, they don't add anything to the show IMO. They're only use is to see who the current long term cast is every few months. It doesn't take a lot to figure out the relevance when a new character arrives especially as we have the internet at our finger tips.

The quote where Cameron Welsh says that he's considering bringing back the opening credits for the 2012 season - I believe that's just one of his quotes he uses to keep fans happy when he actually doesn't have any intention of bringing them back.
I can't understand the reason he gave for why he got rid of them. He said that not having them in the show means that we can go straight into the storylines. However, the show had opening credits in every single episode for about 18 years before they started disappearing. And the show didn't suffer in the slightest then, so why would it suffer now? If they ever were brought back, they should have a style similar to that of either 1988-1996 or 1996-1999, with the actors appearing as the characters they play and not as themselves. So that would mean no looking in the camera and smiling as well. Make them as natural as possible. They should also be either full length, including the "Let me be the one" lyrics of the title song, or leaving out those lyrics. This would give us the parts of the song that we're all familiar with, instead of them being rushed through very quickly. The vast majority of people in the UK and Australia, (the countries where most people watch), will have heard the song being sung and would recognise the lyrics. A lot of the later opening credits, (particularly the 2009 ones), looked like they were just hastily put together, with the feeling afterwards being, "Meh, that'll do". If they can't make a proper effort with the credits, then they shouldn't have them on screen. Either do them properly, or not at all. I want to see them back to their former glory. |

He says that they have been cut for time - why not cut the recap instead? When H&A first started in Australia, it got one airing and that was it. But now there is an omnibus as well as Seven player so it's not like people wont be able to catch up if they need to. He should at least bring them back for the UK and Ireland. The theme is iconic, it should be there

"...You know we belong together......
you and me for ever and ever......" They did one that showed the boys singing the theme. I liked the photoframe one too. Hope it's back soon, I need a sunshine fix! |
