I will be giving this a miss. I have a Kindle 3G and I am very happy with it. I also don't need a tablet because I have a laptop which is perfectly acceptable for my needs.
I will keep hold of the Kindle until they release a version with Colour E-ink and then that is likely the only upgrade I will need then. |

Already have one! My brother in the States got me one for Xmas. Very nice, very easy to use but it does insist on connecting to uk Amazon so you can't directly download apps, TV, movie, books etc. You can download them indirectly via the PC of course, but it's not as quick or easy. It's not easy to fool it into thinking you are actually in the US either. Automatic operating system downloads do work here though, I've had a few updates go through - these are actually pretty seamless and invisible to the user.
So certainly worth getting once Amazon brings out the kosher UK version, but don't go out of your way to get one now. If it's purely a book reader you want, then comparing them side by side, I reckon the basic Kindle had the better screen for reading. |

I love the Kindle but I'm going to wait for a 10" Windows tablet to come out.

I have a Kindle for books and an iPad for everything else. I don't think I'd get a Kindle Fire as I don't need one; but also a number of reviews I read when it came out in the US were not exactly glowing.

I'm still curious to see if we get the same Amazon Prime offering as the US gets. |

Got a Kobo, E-ink is better than LCD or a device with a back light, also all I want is a E-reader.

E-ink is far better than LCd style displays for reading books. i borrowed a Ipad for a couple of days and while it was ok to use for a while for reading, I found my eye grew tired after 30 mins.
I will stick with my Kobo, I don't need a tablet, still see no use for one. |

I wanted one but didn't know how much longer we'd be waiting for it to be released in the UK so I looked around at other tablets and couldn't make my mind up over the Android ones so I now have an iPad but had the Fire have already been released and with decent content I might have went for that instead (or not, as the iPad is amazing).

The question was whether I was getting a Kindle Fire so I answered that I would have got one if they had been released before I got my iPad. I wasn't doing a comparison.

Well I'm actually on a kindle fire right now. I got it as gift but I'd much rather have an ipad because I don't read on it ever. However it is very handy and easy to use.

No I wont be as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7,0 is a better device and is only £200. To little too late from Amazon, should have made it available earlier. I now get my vids and books via Google (well the digital versions anyway
). Also as SKY now have free wifi hotspots, I dont need 3G.

Content is key for the Fire IMO. That will be the interesting element.

I also think that eink one is better... my kindle doesn't have to be colourful. I need it for reading books and the cheapest 89 pounds will be ok
