Anyone ever returned a faulty Blackberry?
Manky Manfred

Greetings friends

I bought my daughter a SIM free Blackberry Bold 9900 for Christmas. I bought it a couple of months ago but the store I bought it from has shut down! It wasn't a franchise so returning it isn't possible.

Now, it was brand new and sealed so like any other product I buy I went to register the warranty but this seems impossible on Blackberry's website. Apart from a useless PDF I can't find a single thing about warranty. Now surely, irrespective of the fact I can't return it to the store, RIM are liable for a warranty on a sealed, unregistered product?

Has anyone ever returned a Blackberry to RIM themselves? I tried calling them and the guy kept telling me to visit my carrier even though I told him a hundred times I bought it SIM free and it has nothing to do with my carrier. He basically palmed me off and ducked the issue of a faulty phone.

Any help appreciated if you've got experience returning bust BB hardware! Cheers.

I think you're probably stuffed. Your contract was with the shop, not the manufacturer.

What is the fault with the phone? Is there any chance the phone you have purchased was stolen - hence you can't register it's warranty?

Do you not have any insurance through your carrier? If not then why not take out a policy and then make a claim after the 30 day cooling off window? Then at least you won't have lost all your money on a broken £499 phone??

If you let us know what the fault is, someone on here might be able to help.
