Some registered phone at my address
Hi
Just moved into new build flat. Contacted sky to set up phone. Have been told someone has used my address to register working phone line. Called BT not much help as they say already a phone at my address. What should I do next. |

They might just have the address confused e.g. you are at number 10A, B or C etc they might be getting confused with the letters. check your phone socket to see if you have a working line dial 17070 and take down the number it reads back to you, see if you can dial out.

Even if your address has a bogus line recorded as existing, there is nothing stopping you ordering a 'second' line (even if the other line is some sort of error in the records.) If its Sky you want to use call them and ask them to install a line, if they say a line is already at the address just ask them to install a second line along side it, its not that unusual to have 2 lines in an address, many people have a line in their property paid for by the company they work for (business use) and a residential line in their own name, obviously if another telephone company has a record of service in your address that you are un-aware of, why worry, sooner or later, it will be ceased as presumably no-one will be paying a bill for it, and lines existing or incorrectly recorded get cut off if the bill doesnt get paid...and as it wont be in your name it wont hurt your credit history...if in the future any phone bills turn up in the post you could return them to whatever telephone company sent them as 'not at this address' |
