Can we finally see Ritchie Scott becoming a full time member of the EE cast?
Ritchie Scott has returned! This is probably, for me, the best Eastenders return in years. I've always loved that character and have always thought she would be an interesting addition to the full time cast.
But could we see this happening? It may have been the case of me taking a mile when given an inch, but the line about her having to go to the Maldives with the missus provided some very interesting character development. I would love to see her and her missus move to the square! I think they would be a nice foil for Chryed, and I think a bit of legal drama would go down well in Albert Square. |

Ritchie is too middle class for the square, and has no ties to it beyond her professional relationship with Phil. I think she should stay as a recurring character.

Don't see it happening but I've always liked the character of Ritchie Scott.

Totally disagree, a lesbian couple is needed on the square and the real East End is made up of various classes. Imagine if her girlfriend was Debs Cross...

She's a brilliant character, but having her move into the Square would feel a bit forced.
Personally, I'd love it if her 'missus' turned out to be DI Marsden... |

I like the fact that Ritchie Scott is an occasional character, like DI Marsden, we don't see them for years sometimes but as soon as they appear on screen we know exactly who they are!

There's no such character as Debs Cross, so I doubt she is Ritchie's other half.
The reason I said Ritchie is too middle class for Albert Square is that the square is self contained. The viewer usually just sees the square, and a small bit of Walford that surrounds it. Characters living in the square have jobs there, family there, friends there. For the time they live there and are on the show, their lives are the square. A middle class resident would need to leave the square to work, they'd have middle class friends outside the square, and probably middle class family too. In short, they would be a lot more distanced from the square than the working class characters. Because of this detachment from the square middle class characters tend to be harder to empathize with, and therefore less popular than working class characters - they're almost always cast as villains, and even on the rare occasion that a middle class character is not a lying, murdering, raping, psychologically deranged, freak they just don't last very long. That's why I don't think Ritchie can join the square. |

Mad May and Stella Crawford were middle class - and they were great!
I do like Ritchie Scott and whilst yes she could make an interesting addition to the cast; I quite like that EE has a host of recurring characters. It's good continuity. |

Bradley had a bank job that required him to leave the square, but yeah, I just don't see a way for Ritchie to live in the square.

I like Ritche as a recurring character and each time we find out a little bit more about her life, like this time we know she is off to Marittius to make up with her partner LOL

According to that link she is leaving in 2011, but the citation links me to a spoiler in May, so who knows. |
