Dot does have a scene with Pat this week after discovering about Pat's condition, they talk about old times.

June Brown is nearly 85, she won't appear every week now.

Dot has had plenty of screentime this year so I guess JB was on holiday/break when Christmas was filmed. I agree it was strange having no Dot or Ian in the Christmas day episodes, I cant remember the last time neither appeared. At least we have a Dot/Pat scene coming up, these two characters never had enough scenes together for my liking.

Completely agree regarding Dot/Pat. I would have loved to have seen these two's friendship explored more. I always enjoy their scenes together, shame there's so few of them.

It looks like she does get a final scene with Pat, which is good.

Yes it wouldn't feel right if there wasn't a final scene with them two. Shame Pat and Mo don't get a final scene but that's another matter.

It is a shame. Mo and Pat are both in the episode before that though on the 30th, but I think it's unlikely they'll get a final scene.
Edit: the same goes for Patrick; he doesn't go and visit her on New Year's Day.

Pat and Patrick get some scenes tonight I think but yes I agree it's a shame he's not in the NYD episode.

I find it a bit suspicious that neither Ian or Dot appeared in the Xmas episodes. Do they get payed more for those episodes? Maybe they couldn't afford to have both of them as well as Pat and Phil. I didn't like not seeing Dot at Xmas. It didn't feel right. I even missed Beale the Squeal

I doubt its down to money, to be fair Ian & Dot have had alot of screentime this year but saying that I'm surprised Dot wasnt at the Brannings on Christmas Day.

Ian took Bobby and Mandy to Disneyland if I remember correctly. There was a scene with Bobby giving Jane her Christmas present and her being upset about not being able to see him on Christmas day.

The final scene of that Pat/New Year episode should be Frank (the real Frank in CGI, not a ghost or vision of Pat's) entering the room like he did back in that '95 Xmas Day episode and everyone staring at him, believing him dead (he's been buried remember) and he just pauses, smiles, removes his flat cap, lets out a sigh and goes 'alright babe?' - the credits roll.

Who's with me? If EE producers cut about 1/3 of the cast (and be honest, you'd barely notice) they could surely afford to pay a small digital studio to design a CGI Mike Reid. There must be dozens if not hundreds of hours of footage of him from over the years, so it has to be possible. If they managed to do it for Oliver Reed in 1999 the technology must have come on leaps and bounds since then.

Imagine the ratings, too... you'd easily get 20 million to see the first attempt at a regular CGI soap character. He'd never need to take a break either.

I'm not easily moved but I can tell you now if Frank appears to take Pat to Heaven I will bawl like a baby I better make sure I watch this episode alone in case that happens

Did Dot ever forgive Pat for seducing Charlie? If I remember correctly Dot gave her a bit of a slap.

Pat seemed to be the one character who managed to turn nearly every one of her female enemies into friends! probably with the exception of Big Mo, perhaps that is why there will be no final scene with the two of them
