If he'd heard the words 'I'm pregnant' (I.E on a voicemail etc) he would have called her back. Of that I'm certain.

Well putting aside the fact that she was pregnant before he went away and could have told him then, I think he would have made an exception to the 'no calling' rule if she told him she was pregnant. Plus she didnt need to have the abortion whilst he was away. If memory serves he was only gone a week so I'm sure it could have waited until he got back and they had talked.
They always said they'd talk when he got back but other things got in the way. |

As she tried to say but in a rubbish way she didn't want to hurt him. Whatever the right and wrongs she didn't tell him, now he's found out.
At least it's in the open and they can each deal with it. Tess has Charlie

I enjoyed this episode very much. I thought that the patient storylines were both very strong (especially the one with the mother and daughter, which was handled splendidly) and I thought that the discussion about bisexuality was interesting. I didn't have a problem with the girl saying 'Bi now, gay later' - I find that kind of comment offensive, but for the sake of a drama it's fine, because a lot of people do think that, and it shows the kind of suggestion that bisexual people have to deal with. I only hope that the programme doesn't try to suggest that that is in fact the case in subsequent episodes - if it does, I completely take that back.
There is just one gripe that I have with this episode. I have nothing against the actress April Pearson, but this is the third time she has appeared in Casualty in the last five years, each time playing a different character. I find that really irritating. Obviously actors have to be re-used from time to time, but I think using someone as frequently as that, playing different people, is just quite insulting to the viewer's sense of continuity. If they wanted to use April Pearson, could they not just have brought her back as Grace Fitch (her character from last time?) It wouldn't really have affected the storyline at all - she could have done exactly the same things as that character. (Although, as Grace had issues with her relationship with her father, I presumed at the time she was an only child, but I don't remember that ever being stated officially). I think it would be more believable to bring back old patients occasionally, for completely different storylines, than to bring back old actors playing new patients. |

Good episode last night but slightly disappointed there was another vehicle related incident!
Was trying to remember who else the mother had played and then realised it was frank foster's mother in Corrie. Interesting parallels between the foster storyline and last nights casualty story: •Husband was abuser in casualty. Initially she didn't believe it but then found out it is true and tried to kill him. •Son was abuser in corrie. Initially she didn't believe it but then found out it is true and did kill him. |

That ending was lovely. It's so nice to see proper friendship between two people instead of romance.

And she knows that he could look at her medical record any time. Incredible that he, or anyone else, would be able to do that!
He said something about knowledge being power, and now he has power over her because he has the knowledge. Yuck! Nasty person he is. |

I really enjoyed this episode. I agree with the two people above that Fletch was clearly effected by the fact that Tess aborted their child. He has to deal with two types of pain. that of grief and betrayal. I thought Alex Walkinshaw did a great job in that scene with Tess in the kitchen. I think it's fair to say that charlie has worked out what has been going on. It's so sweet that he is there for Tess. I understand that it is against regulations to look at other people's medical records but as Tess has some tests done, could he not plead that he was checking her results as her nurse? Would it be enough that he has checked her records to land him in trouble or would she have to report him?
I am loving having Max as a new addition to the show. I love his cheeky chappy banter and general good humour. I can't wait for him to start working at the hospital. I think his interactions with the girl on reception (who's name escapes me at the moment) is going to be great. I thought it was interesting that the surfer girl with the fractured leg mentioned the phrase 'bi now, gay later'. I wonder is this foreshadowing a future storyline. Perhaps the one we mentioned last week with Jamie and Max. No Cardex raised with Tess as the patient covering the patient episode, his name not on that Cardex as the admitting nurse... you have an orphan PAS access on the audit logs - one query rather than a query followed by an update backed by a patient episode... If an access audit was done - he'd be bang to rights under the DPA... |

I think Charlie knows about Tess and Fletch's affair. When Tess broke down in Charlie's arms, she had probably told him everything including the abortion.
I really love Tess and Charlie's friendship and I hope we will get to see more of their friendship soon

I don't accept that as an excuse. If you really want to tell someone something then you find a way. It all played into her hands as she didn't really want to tell him because she was scared & ultimately took the decision into her own hands. He has a right to be upset with her. I'm not sure his upset will last though. Something is clearly going on with Tess & I'm sure whatever these health issues are will bring him back to her. He won't be able to help it as he is in love with her.

Sorry I'm sure I am being really thick but I don't understand what you mentioned above about Cardex? I understand that he would be in trouble via the DPA. If there was an access audit done I'm assuming would it be done in conjunction with the applicable patient files to make sure that that particular person had legitimate access to the records?
The physical notes (Cardex) are then used by the coders alongside the electronic record to record ICD-10 codes against everything for medical audit... (Helps that my mum worked in clinical audit, my brother is an RMN, and I worked in NHS IT for a while) |

I have been reading through the pages and noticed someone said Tom and Sam are going to dominate the show soon? What is going to happen with them?
I love the Tess and Fletch storyline and definitely don't think that is the end of their SL. Any characters due to depart the show soon? |

You have it there. The Cardex file is the manual patient record that is being maintained alongside PAS updates.

Started getting back into Casualty. The last two episodes have been superb - really enjoyed them. But this week's episode in particular was great with 2 very strong patient storylines - almost reminded me of old Casualty. I like how the Fletch/Tess story is bubbling away in the background and not dominating as such.

She tried to tell him plenty of times and then he told her not to call. Why should he be annoyed she didnt tell him when he was the one having the affair? He never intended on leaving his family for her

She entered into an affair knowing full well he was married! I don't think all the blame can be on him, which is what you continuously seem to think.
