Yusuf Question
I know that Yusuf is an outcast to his family but surely they would be told that he is dead? Would his parents really not want to attend his burial? And Afia is still their grandaughter who has done no wrong. Was only Tariq there for him?

I think they should bring in some parents, either Yusuf's or Masood's or Zainab's. And where the heck is Shabnam. Her mother's husband died for goodness sake, she does not even know what has happened in her own family. How can Zainab not tell her at least about Tamwar. The poor boy's burns could be life threatening. How baffling she does not show up for anything of significance. Not only is she physcially absent from all auspicious occasions but she seems to be emotionally detached from them as well to not be there for support.

I have a different question about him...
Did he ever confess to poisoning Zainab the first time round? |

I seem to recall that Shabnam left precisely to escape her family, using a desire to 'travel' as an excuse to get away from them. I seem to recall she was very westernised - going out clubbing, even working as a dancer in a bar and arriving back in the wee small hours.
Maybe she feels no desire at all to return to Walford, and is enjoying her freedom ? |

I think gamekeepersgal meant when he first drugged her, with those pills he got her hooked on, then put an overdose of them in her dinner after she wanted to get off them, as opposed to when he slipped something into her drink, after she said she wanted to leave him. Leaving her unconcious on both occasions.
To answer that one, not to my knowledge no. But I think Zainab at least suspects it now. Edit: Where do Yusef's parents live? If they are in Pakistan, I could imagine it would be just about impossible to fly to the UK at such short notice. Between his death and the burial they would have to be informed by someone. Masood must have inhaled a lot of smoke and then there is Tamwar to worry about, I doubt the first thing any of them would do is phone the parents of the man who caused all this, while they didn't appear to like him in the first place. They must not know about his marriage to Zainab either, unless Tariq told them. That would be a hell of a lot to explain for anyone, especially for someone shocked, worried and/or grieving. So they would at least not have heard about it within 5 minutes. After that, assuming they do still somewhat care about their son, like Zainab never stopped loving Syed, despite not talking to him, they would need some time to take it all in. After that, assuming they have the money for it, they would have to book tickets and find somewhere to stay in the UK. I have no idea if Yusef had any family nearby or how they felt about him (What was his relation to this Laila anyway?). They would certainly not be welcomed at the Masoods house and who can blame them? Then, they would have to be lucky. I suppose there aren't everyday flights to Pakistan, and even if there are, all seats could easily be taken already. So there. That is how I think one can explain the absense of the parents. |

I can see you put alot of thought into that post but I was thinking in more simple terms, that their son just died and they might want to be present for his burial and just drop everything to be there and not worry about so many details. I would have thought Tariq would inform them and what about Yusuf's sister who was at the mehndi? Surely she knows her brother has just died and would want to know what happened. I am confused. |

He tried to burn her before but I think this was the first time he tried to poison her with pills. But there were times when I literally lost this plot so I am not sure.
