Spice Girls - Say You'll Be There
As a self confessed Spice Girls fan I love most of their material that they released (mainly from the first 2 albums which were more pop orientated), but I was just listening to their songs tonight (Dont judge
) and realised how good this song actually is. IMO it beats the rest of their hits hands down. It's classy, with a cool R'n'B vibe, the production sounds really slick, it has a brilliantly catchy melody and the vocals imo were the best that the SG's achieved (bar 'Forever'). It also stands the test of time to me, 15 years later it still sounds fresh and better than some recent poptunes I've heard. Anyone else love this song or have opinions on it (Good or bad welcome). |

Oh god I just googled when their albums came out and I was 4/5 at the time and remember being a massive fan! I watched their movie countless times too.

Say You'll Be There is a really good song. I loved it then and I love it now. Perhaps my favourite single from them.

2 Become 1, Too Much and Goodbye were played alot on TV and radio the last few weeks, because they were Christmas no.1's in 1996, 1997 and 1998
and on TV and radio they really sounded like they could be hits now. Say You'll Be There also still sounds quite fresh. it's no wonder they have a musical coming out next year, because their music is very good! they might be remembered for the whole Girl Power thing more than their music, which is a shame cos their music is great Edit to add: except that Headlines song they brought out in 2007... |

I've never 'got' that

I love this song! I think it was on their first album. I have that album and their Greatest Hits.

I agree with your entire assessment of the technical merits of SYBT. It was a killer second single - vindicated in terms of myself by actually hearing it first before Wannabe, and thinking 'bloody hell who is this, they're good!'

I can't believe it's 15 years old.
Where has that time gone? I remember getting the 'Spice' album for my Christmas present LOL. |
