Who are the Nine Inch Nails?

I am a Digital Spy user; I only listen to Lady GaGa, Katy Perry & The Saturdays.

Zero-sum, Hand that feeds, Something I can never have the list goes on, frigging amazing act who really never fully got the recognition he/they deserved.

I'm listening to With Teeth at the moment. I'd forgotten just how good an album it is.

There is a strong rumour Trent's next album is likely to be a NIN album.

Head like a Hole not the best song, but it's the song that got me into NIN.

Track number one, album number one. Pretty good place to start.

For me, though, Star****ers, Inc. is my favourite.

NIN were a great band.

I'm not sure I agree with this, they were a pretty big deal in the 90s and have always been very highly regarded by modern rock critics. They had a lot of mainstream success too considering the style of music they play, and played high up on a lot of big festival bills.

As for favourite songs, there are a lot to choose from, but I think I'd have to go with 'Hurt'. The general consensus these days is that Johnny Cash's cover usurped the original as the definitive version, but coming at the end of 'The Downward Spiral', it is an absolutely devastating song.

Right Where It Belongs, either version.

Closer is also a very special song.

The Perfect Drug, Sin, The Big Comedown, Ruiner and the demo version of Sanctified for me.
I've only liked one of their albums (Ghosts) since The Fragile, Trents lyrics haven't really evolved and they make me cringe a bit.
I'd also add this to my favourites too, a glorious racket.

"We're In This Together". It got me into NIN in the first place, back when MTV's M2 wasn't shite and when that and MTV were actually music television.

Another favourite is "Every Day Is Exactly The Same".

Yes, I remember that era. MTV2 had a slot called 'Unseen and Unclean' and they used to show Nine Inch Nails videos on that along with Aphex Twin etc. Oh I wish they would bring back those days.

Yup.

MTV & M2 got me into so much music back in the 90s, back when they actually played music videos instead of endless reality crap like Jersey Shore.

Closer. I just like singing the chorus for some reason.

Though, a bit random, but The Big Come Down is probably my overall favourite.

So difficult to choose, so many great songs.

One which is also associated with some really fond memories of the early days of my relationship with the woman who would eventually be my wife is "Wish". Where most couples would bond over cheesy love songs we got close over a lyric which includes the words "fist f**k".

I'd heard of them for many years but never got round to listening to them.

Then I heard their music being used as incidental music in the Adam Curtis documentary All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace and was very impressed by what I heard.
Right Where It Belongs was one of the songs used which I loved.

Can anybody tell me what version of this song they used in this documentary though? It has a heavy guitar/electronic type sound under it which isn't in the version I found on youtube?

edit: Ah, found it, this one. Version 1 apparently. This is the version I prefer.
