With the new years honours announced so.

Does anyone else reckon Bill Roache aka Ken Barlow should become a Sir.

After 51 years in the same role is an amazing achievement

No. Many people stay in the same job for years they do not get recognised

Certainly not, along with Dot Cotton he has the cushiest TV gig going, earning great money for doing very little.

Don't get me wrong, I love Ken - but save the knighthoods for those that truly earn them.

I joined the civil service in 1974, and after I had only been ther a few weeks my immediate boss , just one grade higher than me, was awarded the MBE. He was about 60. I assumed he must have done some great charity work or something like that , but no , all he had done was to turn up at work for the previous 25 years.

Honours should go to those who really deserve it. As much as I like Bill Roache the awards should go to special people.

I don't think so.

50 years is all very well and really commendable - I have a huge respect for him as an actor myself for having such commitment - but in fairness, Bill Roache has made me cringe alot in the past few years. He's not a good actor, just a lucky one.

Would it really matter if he got one? Knighthoods have become a joke in recent years, culminating in mick jagger and bruce bloody forsyth.

But I agree with those who say he's been paid an awful lot of money over the years, for a not especially demanding job, which he doesn't do particularly well anyway.
