No contest for me, the X Factor wins. I gave up with the last lot of Strictly Come Dancing early on, found it a bit of a bore, and Brucie needs to retire gracefully I think, he just gets a bit much with the me, me, me.

I think the X factor is the same old stuff. Talentless young hopefuls...mostly... being wheeled in for Simon Cowell to bite lumps out of.
In SCD at least there are SOME professional and proficient practitioners of the art of dancing. Whereas the X factor seems to have the usual sub-standard wanna bes. |

SCD deserves to win but won't - I managed to watch both (taped X-factor) and X-factor is total crap it's a mix between Pop Idol/ American Idol and Fame Academy (voting) only worse. The whole thing is obviously scripted. SCD is new and fresh - we need more programmes like it.

I love Strictly Come Dancing but I've been folowing X Factor since it started I am totally torn. I taped SCD last night but I thought The X Factor live show was poor. All the Pop/American/Australian idols are better than it. And I don't like the twist were the judges ultimately decide who goes.

The X Factor 6.7m Strictly Come Dancing 6.1m
So The X Factor 6.7m beat Come Dancing 6.1m in the 6pm slot. Both shows had 7.5m for the later result shows.
Good Start, and the head to head has only just begun! |

Glad you watched X factor?
I did the same but I'd rather have done it the other way around.

I watched X Factor and taped STrictly Come Dancing, but next week I think I'll watch SCD, as X-Factor is repeatd ad infinitum on Sundays and again on Wednesday.
Alternatively, I could look again at my social life and make more of an effort to go out on Saturday nights! |

Ratings success!
Quote:
The X Factor won the head to head battle of the reality talent shows with Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday, although the BBC1 show that made Natasha Kaplinsky a household name did return with more than 6 million viewers. Simon Cowell's ITV1 show, The X Factor, was watched by 6.7 million viewers and attracted a 33% audience share between 6pm and 7.15pm, according to unofficial overnights. The results show at 9pm which saw Quentin Wilson voted off with the lowest ever score - 8 out of 40 and described as 'a Robin Reliant' by one judge - attracted 8.7 million viewers and a 37% audience share. After losing out to Strictly Come Dancing's results show at 9pm, ITV1 was back on top from 9.15pm, with a second instalment of The X Factor attracting 7.5 million viewers - a third of the available audience. Source: MediaGuardian Ok so X factor may have one the first one but SCD was on top at the results show! |

Weird!
We were waiting for the 9pm SCD results show (stated as at 9pm in the Guardian Guide), ready to switch over to the XFactor results at 9.15 - but it wasn't on. (Was it?)
Casualty went on till 9.15pm, and was immediately followed by that Rod Stewart thing. What time were the SCD results, anybody? Am I the only one confused by all this? Cheers Nic |

They put the results on at 8:10, pushed casualty to 8:20 and that was followed by Rod Stewart.
In our telly guide it said 9:00 and I would have missed it if someone that had been paying more attention than me hadn't said 'But she said they'd be back after the lottery!' |

Another victory for Strictly Come Dancing according to The Sun TV Biz Monday:
THE BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing was top in Saturday night’s ratings war. Figures in millions: Strictly Come Dancing (BBC1)...................6.9 The X Factor (ITV).......................................6.5 Ant & Dec’s Sat Takeaway (ITV).................6.2 |

BBC bosses are claiming another win over ITV in the Saturday night ratings war.
The Beeb say Strictly Come Dancing pulled in 8.4million viewers while X Factor attracted just 7million. |

The thing is X factor is repeated several time on ITV2 (twice on Sunday and again on Wednesday evening), SCD is not repeated at all. This means that (in the absence of a working video recorder – it’s on my Xmas wish list!), I watch SCD live and just the results show of X factor (they repeat clips of the performances so I can get an idea of how everyone did). I now prefer SCD over XF and think that SCD is the better produced show.
