I watch SCD (love it - am hoping Aled will get to the final if not win, not voted yet though), and record X-Factor - I really enjoy it, but not to the extent of missing SCD, it has become a bit "same-y" over the weeks, contestants singing similar songs not improving much (other than Cassie maybe) (G4 being ruined by Mr Walsh
), and the same back-biting going on between the judges. At least with SCD you see a difference each week with most of the couples, and the judges are more into being honest than winning points for themselves. Also, I don't get ITV2, so only one chance at X-Factor. This week will be the real test - we're out so will the video work? If not, hey ho. As we're at my parents we can be garunteed seeing SCD ![]() Cxx |

Another victory for Strictly Come Dancing on the 20th with the first show attracting 8.2m (200,000 down on last week) and the result earning a whopping 8.9m viewers. The X Factor did well also attracting 7.4m for the main show and 7.2m for the results.

From The Sun TV Biz Mon 29th Nov:
RIVALS X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing both drew 7.7million viewers on Saturday. But Dancing skipped ahead in the results slot later. |

Another victory for Strictly Come Dancing as the head to head with The X Factor continued on their respective semi-finals on Saturday night.
Strictly Come Dancing 8.1m beating Record of the Year 2004 which had 5m viewers and The X Factor when the two shows clashed had 7.3m. The National Lottery Wright Around the World with 5.9m was then in 2nd place when head to head with The X Factor. BBC One was back on top from 8.20pm when Strictly Come Dancing results had 8.1m viewers beating Record of the Year 2004 Result which had 6.2m. The X Factor results drew 7.1m and was beaten by Casualty on 7.5m but it beat the following show Billy Connolly's World Tour of New Zealand which drew 4.7m. |

I thought pitching Strictly Come Dancing in the collision course of The X Factor was a bad, bad idea by the BBC - I thought it would be trounced.
I was obviously very wrong - I think SCD captures a broader demographic than The X Factor and the gap in the ratings has got even bigger since Simon Cowell tried his last resort tactic of beating SCD of effectively calling it a granny programme. The X factor has only beaten SCD once in the ratings so far, if I'm correct, and that was at the start when the X factor had been running for quite a while and SCD was just launching. At all other times SCD has been ahead or has drawn. This is a big triumph by the BBC. Expect another series next year! (Perhaps for Comic Relief?) |

The 3rd series of SCD is supposed to be hitting our screens same time as this current one next year. Being Children In Need the Charity. Unless of course they decide to bring it forward again!! |

I agree that SCD appeals to a wider audience, and mor eimportantly, the show is still a lot fresher than "tv-reality singing shows", x factor is now the, i dunno, 7th?
However, anyone would be somewhat blind to notice that X Factor has succeeded in beating SCD in another department: votes. GO jill! lol |

But votes is probs down to the fact that the X Factor is watched more by youngsters who text loads (something SCD hasn't got) and will ring loads of times where SCD viewers are more restrained and will make do with voting no more than a few times for someone.

At BBC NEWS | Entertainment | TV and Radio | TV talent shows head for climax they have predictions of the ratings for tomorrow nights finales.
"Both shows have done well in the ratings in recent weeks - Strictly Come Dancing is predicted to attract 11 million viewers compared to 10.2 million for The X-Factor." Massive audiences these days, I think you'll agree. I hope that Strictly Come Dancing does have the larger audience, especially as the winners result is earlier than The X Factor and only has competition from Millionaire. Although Billy Connolly is hardly going to retain the audience for BBC One when The X Factor Finale result is on and then the audience is likely to carry over into Christmas Mania on ITV1. We'll know on Sunday, I'm sure the figures will be revealed early by BBC Entertainment News. |
