Out of Bryan Kirkwood's decisions this year, I've always found Mandy Salter to be his be his best signing; she is full of life and really is the only one who can stop Ian get so stressed. However, I do know some people do prefer Mandy from her original stint (although I didn't watch that having not been born) and I just wanted to know what people think?

Unsuccessful - a grown woman who acts like a teenager, we already have that in Roxy but even she is maturing.

i dont remember her first time round but i like her, i think they need to tone down the flying of the handle thing, but her and Ian seem ok together, Ian is short on people to interact with now and seeing him with Alfie and Mandy is making him more likeable.

50/50 for me. Her and Ian do not work and the sooner is she moved onto something else the better. Its also so out of character for both to have ended up together this quickly. Continuity for both went out the window given they hated the ground each other walked on during her first stint.

However I am pleased she is back. She just needs better material.

Unsuccessful. The writers don't seem to know what to do with her, completely pointless bringing her back. Her and Ian won't last and she doesn't have any friends on the Square.

I like her. However, she needs some development because I can see her getting repetitive

I love her - they really need to give her something else. It seems like they brought her back for Ian and now don't know what to do with her.

It's a not for me.

Mandy actually has less friends on the square this time round than she did when she was first in it.

I don't see the problem with her pairing up with Ian...She has want he wants....Looks....He has what she want....Money/stability.

I also think it is ludicrous to say that just because they didn't get on almost 20 years ago, they wouldn't now! They were practically kids back then! People move on and forgive/forget!

Oh, and yeah, I think she has been very successful. Pair her up with Kim. They'd be great together as mates

Not really feeling it, all she has done is wind ian up and is going to wreck the butcher household.

I used to think Ricky and Bianca were going to be the most solid of couples...
Kirkwood: NOPE!

I think Ian/pairing is really good, its because they are so different that they work and as pointed out above, Ian wants her for her looks and Mandy wants him for stability.I'm not sure whether they love each other but they certainly need each other. That in itself is a big thing for both characters as they've always wanted to be loved by others. I also have to agree with others who say that Mandy might become repetitive (a la Kat Moon) and her character gets ruined so I really hope that she has some big stories of her own. Maybe she should form a duo with another fiery woman eg Kim, Roxy, Bianca etc

Totally disastrous.

Why did she come back? What is she doing here? What is the point?

All of these are questions which have NOT been answered since her return. Instead, BK has decided to turn her into a gold digging old hag. She doesn't love Ian, she loves that he makes her feel better about herself, and she loves his money. Her affair with Ricky was totally lame, and has only served to mess up Ricky and Bianca further at a time where it is just not needed.

I will admit that she looks good for her age, but I just don't see the point of her at all. She has no reason at all to stay in the Square, no family, no unfinished business, nothing. Why did she come back?

This is what I find so unbelieveable. And the way she was introduced to the Square was so lame, oh I'll just stay with Ian who I hardly knew.

I liked her return initially, but find her to be one-dimensional. There needs to be a slightly more adult side to offset the childish side; it's frankly weird how all she cares about at this point is rings and parties.

I do quite like her energy; and the character could still be saved, but she needs a bit more direction.

This is what I like most about her..and one of the reasons I like her with Ian. She adds some spark to him. They work together, she brings out some life in him, and I think we'll see in time he'll bring something out in her, like a softer side, or a more mature side. They could balance each other out. I like her character but she does need to interact more with others..like it's been mentioned before I could see her being good with Kim.

I absolutely loathed the character first time and was horrified to hear that she was returning, but I do actually like her this time round. So a thumbs up from me.

I remember Mandy the 1st time round and she was one hell of a gritty character back then. She had storylines based on drug abuse, homelessness, abandonment, suicide, affairs. She was very minipulative however, you always loved to hate her and I was gutted when she left (we were the same age back then well she was a couple of years older than me) and I was buzzing when she was returning but I was hoping for the gritty storylines. Nicola is wicked actress and I want more juicy and gripping storylines for her. I can't stand Ian. I don't even love to hate him. When the who stalked Phil storyline came about I was convinced it was Mandy as that is right up her street based on teh character she was 17 years ago.

Mandy as a character in her own right and Ian/Mandy as a couple have suffered from a severe lack of development and screen time. During all those months where we forced to endure the same set of scenes recycled with Yusef and the Masoods the writers had ample opportunity to gives development to Mandy and Ian but never bothered. Their relationship remains a badly developed mystery and Mandy has been turned from a gritty character into a panto joke. I like her. She's fun. But the actress and character deserve more.

I'd say it was unsuccessful.

She doesnt seem to fit in and to be honest it just feels like I am waiting for her to leave again. Doesnt feel like she is going to be around for long.

Kirkwood doesn't have a great track record with EE couples, admittedly, but with Ricky and Bianca, his hands are rather tied, as it's been Sid Owen's decision to leave. BK wanted them to stay together but now he has to split them up because of SO going.
