Eastenders
Coronation Street
Emmerdale
Hollyoaks
Home and Away
Neighbours

etc...........

Talk about time consuming when looking here for EE threads.

I think the big three could handle having a seperate forum, but wouldn't Neighbours/Home and Away/Hollyoaks forums die a death?

Eastenders is the most popular soap on the TV!... People need to face up to it

Aye. But shit's the most popular thing in a sewer, does not mean a thing. I do think they should be split though, Eastenders does seem to attract a rather more argumentative and dare I say it, childish poster sometimes, whereas you rarely see hissy fits and strops in the Corrie thread.

I actually think that it would be a good idea to split the forum into four subforums: EE, ED, Corrie, and Others.

It could be handy, especially when people don't put the soap name in the new thread they have just started and the title it has doesn't really give away any clues as to what soap it might be about. *points to the thread titled 'Something Tells Me...'* ahem.

I can't see it happening though, it has been suggested numerous times over the years.

YES! Why can't they do this, I don't understand? It's been mentioned many times before.

I only watch Eastenders and I'm sick of opening threads only to find it's about some other soap I have no interest in, or having to go back through pages to look for discussions on EE I want to read.

This section is active enough that it should be split.

people should just be more careful when posting threads. it doesn't take any longer to post "soap name, character name" than it does the thread title

Have wanted this for ages, it would be more organised, but didn't DS say that it was fine how it is.

This won't happen. There will be less exposure for EE if it's confined to it's own sub section and I'm willing to bet that wouldn't be a good move on the part of DS. I agree there should be sub sections though. It's fairer on all the soaps.

It might be easier if Corrie, Emmerdale and Eastenders all had there own as they have the most topics and the other three squeezed into one?

Yes, I really want this to happen. I only watch EastEnders and don't want to see threads about the other soaps.

I think this is a good idea. A good way of doing it would be:

Soaps: General
EastEnders
Coronation Street
Emmerdale
Hollyoaks
Dramas
Overseas Soaps
Regional Soaps
Defunct Soaps
Games Room
Appreciation Section

Soaps: General for general soaps chat that involves more than one soap.

Dramas for Doctors, Casualty, Holby, and Waterloo Road

Overseas Soaps for Neighbours and H&A

Regional Soaps for Ros Na Run, Pobol y Cwm and River City

Defunct Soaps: Crossroads, The Bill, Brookside, Eldorado, etc.

Games Room: For soaps games

Appreciation: For soapy appreciation

Reality TV gets sub-forums- I think it would be good for DS as a whole- it might be easier to pick out trolls, a fan of Hollyoaks can't be distracted by an avid fan of EastEnders, and so on.

I actually like it as it is. I don't have any trouble finding threads I want to read, and having all of the soap posts together alerts me to anything interesting happening in other soaps that I might want to watch. I can also easily see which soaps are being talked about more often. It gives the fans of less popular soap operas an active forum to use, rather than a tiny inactive one that would result from splitting them up. There are often forum posts that are about more than one soap, I don't know what they would do if everything was split up, it would deter more general soap related discussion. And as someone who watches more than one soap, I find it easier to keep up with everything in the same place. I think further dividing the forum would slow up the activity in it.

A better system would be for posters to select which soap(s) the threads they create are about, and have a filter function so that people can choose to only view threads about a certain soap.

There is a search function if people can't find threads on soaps they watch. DS soap forum is fine, don't fix what isn't broken

If only fans of some soaps would use it, instead of posting numerous threads on the exact same topic.

If that was directed at me, I don't mean a search function, because then people have to search for key words? And often a thread about Eastenders won't have the word "Eastenders" in it. I meant that there should be a dropdown list of categories when creating a thread, and a filter system to only view threads categorised as "Eastenders" or "general discussion" or whatever, to easily view threads in the main forum that are about a specific soap.

Adding my thoughts on the separate forums idea. I read but rarely post here as its time consuming enough trying to locate the threads Iwant to read! Seeing as a show which has 1million viewers (Big Brother), has its own forum, I don't see why the major soaps do not have their own forums?

Digital Spy are you reading this thread???
