With under half an hour to go have these mobile companies put in place the demand of everyone sending messages will all the whole network crash?

The networks will most likely crash, unfortunately, as i'm using a mobile internet dongle

Same. I sent mine out around 7pm. It's a pain in the ass getting Happy New Year texts through at 3 in the morning when the networks have finally cleared.

My 3 big ones are with their dad at the moment (first time with him, and I'm totally lost, lol). I've told them I'll call them sometime after midnight, but won't try on the dot. They're all at a party so they'll be awake for a while yet. :)

    What network?

I think the different networks cope differently.

Spend a fortune for idiots all sending pointless text messages at the same time once a year.

Why would they spend money for completely unimportant messages that occur for a few minutes once a year?

I expect they're hoping that people have finally learned not to bang their head against exactly the same spot after so many years.

Usually send a few texts.Sent 1 and did everything else on facebook. Easier and instant.

O2 system is up the creek. The whole network system has crashed. I thought they would have learnt the lessons over the years?

Why not just send out a tweet, that is what I did! :D

Far easier, and it is free! :D:D

Why would any of the networks spend millions between them beefing up the networks for less than a minute of use per year. I can't believe some people think that this is a problem. Don't send texts at midnight on 31st December, simple.

O2 (well, giffgaff) fell over earlier on here, so no change there.

Three, Vodafone and - surprisingly, since they were first off this time last year - Orange are all holding up pretty well here by the looks of it though.

My phone on Orange worked fine, the T-Mobile dongle did not cope so well though!
