I'm not an avid Dancing On Ice fan now, after last year's mess, but I would be interested to see who's doing it this year. The show's going to start next week and we still don't know the celebs. Last year, the celebs were announced before Christmas.

I'd be interested to see who's doing it. I do want David Beckham on it, that would be a laugh. The Dancing On Ice team need to be more adventurous in choosing celebrities. Strictly Come Dancing always have huge personalities: one year we had Pamela Stephenson, another year we had Lulu, and we've had Phil Tufnell, Matt Dawson, and so on. Dancing On Ice feels a bit weak compared to Strictly in my opinion, so I need a very good line-up to be fixed this year.

It's been said many times before, a lot of celebs are maybe scared of doing DOI as it's very difficult. I think the show gets a very good lineup considering this, and I think the celebs who do take part are very brave!

Does anyone know yet who the professionals are this year?

Mark Henretty has just answered one of his followers who asked him when the Lineup was being announced and he said it will be Tuesday 3rd January, which sounds right as "This Morning" isn't on tomorrow ( Monday 2nd)

Pretty much the same as last year. The only changes we know about are Colin, Michael, Isabelle and Katie are out, Matthew Gonzales is back, Andrei Lipanov is substituting for Sylvain and Vicky Ogden is new.

As well as this DOI is a bigger time commitment than Strictly - the Strictly celebs train for about 3 weeks before the show starts whereas DOI it's nearer 3 Months.

That's hardly fair - presumably little was made of him not being on the show as he seems like a fairly private person and probably didn't make any announcement on Twitter or anything. Personally I will miss him a lot, he was one of my favourite pro skaters from last year, and hope he does well in whatever he gets up to next!

That said the pro skater line-up remains excellent despite some disapointing departures, and I'm really excited to see Vicky on the show.

I really liked Michael - he was utterly charming when we met him.

Can't say I was overly struck with Sylvain, but that may have been because of his partner.

Pretty much agree with this. It's a shame Sylvain won't get the chance to show what he can do this year, hopefully he'll be back in action on next year's series (yes I'm talking about 2013 already!).

Having met Michael & Katie myself I'm disapointed they're not doing it, but we've been over this before and there are lots of other fantastic skaters on the series. I'm VERY excited... 6 days to go!!!

Apparently they're very slow at signing the pros up. A guy's got to make a living somehow and he got a backstage job on Battle of the Blades, which is like the Canadian equivalent. That clashed with starting training with DOI (although surely they could have liaised with BOTB to fly his partner out & let them train with their staff, but that rant's for another thread. )

Anyway, he's not quit, he's not been dropped, he misses it like crazy and hopefully he'll be back next year. As has already been said, he's in Holiday On Ice which is doing a few dates in Cardiff & the south of England over the next few weeks.


He's not one of the headliners so you may have to scour the chorus line but apparently he has plenty of performances, more so than he'd get on the DOI tour anyway.

I hope Maria gets a good partner this year after the shock early exit last year
