Maybe they are slow at signing up pro skaters, but others have still stuck with the show. I don't blame Colin at all for taking what is probably a more secure - not to mention very prestigious - job, but let's not have the excuses. Other popular pros have made the decision not to do DOI this year and there are countless reasons why they might decide that. I suspect they will all miss it to some extent, but presumably not enough for them to have signed up for another year.
As for liaising with Battle of the Blades to keep Colin on the show, why should they? I know he's very popular but I don't see why they should bend over backwards to ensure that he stays with the show.
Whether you like Colin or not, he's taken a very good job over the new series of Dancing on Ice.
