I had to install a new hard drive on my computer and lost all my music, how can I transfer the music on my iphone back into I-tunes? When i open folders on my phone it just opens up the pictures, no access to music files! any help would be gratefully appreciated, thank you and happy new year! ;o)

Is it music you'd bought from iTunes or music you'd ripped from CDs. If it's iTunes tracks, you can contact Apple and ask them for a 1 time re-download, which they generally allow for people who've had computer issues.

Thanks for the quick reply, no it's music I've ripped from my cd's, don't really want to have to do it all again but that is an option, was hoping for an easier/faster option!

Buy an Android. No more ridiculous musical issues.

Thanks for that constructive input, if you've nothing interesting or helpful to say please feel free to refrain from being a pr*ck!

If it's a new install of iTunes then just sync the phone in iTunes and it will copy everything over.

No, when I sync it moves things from itunes to the phone but not the other way! Thanks anyway! If i put the tick in to manage the music it states that the phone is already synched with another I-tunes library and asks me if I want to wipe the phone and synch with the current library which as nothing in.

It was helpful. I've never seen such a ridiculous amount of users losing entire libraries due to being tied into iTunes.

Just because you choose to disagree does not make it unhelpful.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go and be a pr*ck.

no, the reason is due to not having a backup of any content.

please continue being a pr*ck though, you seem to be good at it.

Thanks m8, looking at that it would mean jailbreaking my phone which I don't want to do, as you say I've only got myself to blame for not backing my files up, I'll manage for now as I have the music on the phone where I want it, if for any reason I lose that I'll just have to get my cd's out again!

Thanks for all the constuctive help folks, all the best!

i'm pretty sure there are some solutions that don't involve jailbreaking. may have to tweak the google search though.

in fact that article actually lists an option that doesn't involve jailbreaking

"Winamp's newest iPod plug-in can indeed copy files from your iPhone in Windows without jailbreaking."

Just jailbreak it copy your music over make a back up then restore the phone in itunes to get rid of the JB then resync your music back to the phone.

if it's an iphone 4s then that won't be possible though.

If you have updated the phone to iOS 5 and you sync your music to iCloud, and you sign up for Apple's iTunes Match system, that will create a cloud backup of the music on your phone.

It costs about £20 I think.

Simply go to the getsharepod.com website and you can take all your music from you iphone-ipod to your computer or vice versa. A nice easy way around it - and its free.

i said "if".
the OP didn't say which iphone it was, so we can't assume a jailbreak is possible unless we know which one it is... and as i said it's not possible if it is a 4S.

It's £21.99 and I was about to suggest the same thing. While it won't help the OP out of his current predicament it will prevent the problem in the future as any matched music can be downloaded again from the iTunes store and any unmatched music is uploaded to iCloud and again can be downloaded as the users leisure
