When Ian or Dot leave EE...
When Dot or Ian leave Eastenders, I am really beginning to hope the the EP, whoever that may be at the time, touches on a storyline such as dementia or alzheimers as this would give the perfect opportunity to reflect on the past.
The reason I mentioned the above characters is due to the fact that they are the longest serving remaining cast members and have had such a large amount of interaction with many of the squares residents over the years. I really think that this would be a great idea as it could be portrayed so well especially by June Brown (Dot) given that she is a fantastic actress. What do you guys think? |

Corrie is a different show. Besides, EE was always the show to have the guts to do the brave stuff first
June Brown is in her 80's, I am expecting her to step down from the role any time soon. I suspect her exit will be just as harrowing As for Ian, he'll go on another 25 years yet |

With all her history and links that type of story would of really suited Pat.

I doubt they will ever kill Ian off but when he does leave he'll probably be happy and he'll have a load of money etc

I would expect June will likely pass in the job and therefore would limit the way Dot is written out. A bit like Corrie will do for Bettie. As for Ian, he isnt going anywhere, no one would dare axe him now (unless there was a good reason to) and Adam hasn't expressed any indication he wants to leave in the near future. However would be fitting that when he does go they reflect on the past, considering he is the only original left... I bit like they should do for Ken in Corrie.

I expect if either leaves they'll be sent on their way with a storyline as miserable and unfitting as Pat's was. Anything to squeeze the last drop of angst out of the characters. Dot will probably be gone within the next few years and I certainly won't be watching her die in agony and fear like Pat did. That's one episode I'll skip after last night's atrocity. IN MY OPINION.
Ian will be there until EE ends. I don't think that day is as far off as some of you think. IN MY OPINION. |

If Phil is still in EE then I think that Phl should have a go at Ian and Ian finally flips and kills Phil and goes to prison, or Cindy returns from the dead and kills Ian.

IN MY OPINION. ![]() EE is doing fantastic in the ratings its the BBC's biggest show and to get over 8/9million Viewers a night is something. BBc would be lost without EastEnders. It will never be axed ithink if it was to ever end it would be a mutual thing nothing to do with ratings. As For Ian and Dot..I dont see Dot being in EE too long I think she will have this year 2012, then she properly leave in 2013.Ian i dont see him going anywhere. |

I agree with you that Dot will be gone by 2013. I think 2010 was Peggy's year, 2011 was Pat's, 2012 will be Phil's and 2013 will be Dot's. Will 2014 see the end of Ian?

If Adam Woodyatt quits any time soon they would be making a huge mistake if they killed Ian off as he's one of the very last links to the past due to them foolishly killing off nearly every single one of the original cast. He should be written out so the door is left open for him to return in the future.
As for Dot due to the actresses age its unlikely the character would ever return so dying is probably the way Dot will bow out. It will be interesting to see if she stays another 3 years as currently she's 3 years behind Pat who holds the title for eastenders second longest serving character ever with 25 and a half years service. (Due to Dot's 4 year break in the 90s). |

I'd love to see June tackle dementia. She'd be memorizing. Might even win her a proper award!
Wouldn't trust Burkwood with a story like that though, wait until a more "kitchen sink" EP graces us with their presence. |

Why not give her a happy ending for a change? She could go to live with Nigel in Scotland to spend the rest of her days in retirement. It would still be a sad episode because we'd know Dot's leaving for good. Pat's exit didn't sit right with me. It felt all wrong. But I'm aware I'm in the minority on that one on DS

I agree guys, I cannot belive how they have killed off virtually every single characters from the main original families, im suprised sharon and michelle are still alive, if dot or ian leave anytime soon they cannot kill them off, i can understand them killing dot off i suppose but they should only do that if she stays with EE for years to come, it is possible, remember betty was over 90 when she died in corrie and june brown is a strong woman who also did strictly come dancing.
if they kill Ian off lets see EE GO DOWNHILL LIKE BROOKSIDE DID. |

I think she will have this year 2012, then she properly leave in 2013.
