Very happy with that point and despite the dodgy penalty I thought it was a fair result.
We did really well to turn it into a good game after that first 20 minutes. |

Putting aside that first 20 minutes we gave as good as we got. I would have taken a point before kick-off so I'm pleased.
Kelly looked much better at left-back and McArthur was terrific from the moment he came on for Gayle - in fact McJedley were on top form. Villa up next on Tuesday night. |

a good case for McJedley to be starting on Tuesday night. hopefully Gayle's injury isn't a bad one.

Garry Monk: "We were the better team by far but you have to put the ball in the net. It was difficult when they were basically camped out on their 18 yard box, but credit to them they defended well."
If he's talking about the whole 90 then he must have stopped watching after the first 20 minutes! |

Monk didn't seem to stop whinging on the sidelines all game. A really odd view of the game he has there.

I'm all for managers bigging up their own teams but when their views are so blinkered it's disrespectful. Monk's comments are bizarre. Yeah, it was like that in the opening 20 minutes as we've all said but after that it was an even game and if he thinks we were camped out on our own penalty area for the other 70 mins then he needs a trip to Specsavers pronto.

Just really glad for the point.
Hopefully can take that we got 4 points from 6, at home, and on a Tuesday night can't see a large villa crowd. Just some real positivity and confidence behind us can hopefully get a much needed win. Of course because it's a big game in terms of needing the points we'll lose 4.0 but just hope and pray. |

thought we played some decent stuff after that opening 15/20 was out the way... the midfield looked strong... think it's time zaha started instead of puncheon though...
also, it would be nice if we could start keeping clean sheets... 27th september was the last time we did that. |

Villa tonight feels like a big one, especially with the league being so tight. I'm nervous.

smash & grab from Villa in the 1st half. a poor goal for us to concede. despite having most of the play our final ball and crossing has been woeful though so far.

what garbage that ended up being. why was Warnock bringing on Puncheon with only a few minutes left when Zaha had been poor all game?
we desperately need a striker in January but I just don't trust Warnock to get anyone decent in. |

That's the most annoyed I've been coming away from a match all season. Our attack is so frustrating you just never feel like we're gonna score, even with all that pressure.
And Villa were really not a good side. This one's a bad loss. |

Villa were the poorest side I have seen play us this season, but the main difference between them and us is they have a top class striker that can score a goal from nothing. We don't.
And when you have that you have a much better chance of avoiding the bottom three. I worry for us this season, I really do. As Tusk mentions above, we are in desperate need of a striker that can actually put the ball in the net on a consistent basis. |

so far this season we have lost to sunderland, lost to west ham, lost to hull, lost to villa, drawn with burnley & drawn with west brom...
apart from burnley (for obvious reasons) those were games we were winning last season... how many clean sheets did we keep under pulis? we've had 2 clean sheets in our 13 league games this season, against leicester & burnley... we may not look like scoring at times but when you keep conceding and need at least 2 goals a game to even have a chance of winning then a side like ours is already up against it even before kick-off... |

Like that team - McJedLey is the way forward for away games.
Unfortunately we never seem to win at Spurs. |

Good first half that. Bolasie's trick on the wing was beautiful.

This is reminiscent of the game at The Lane last season. Back then we had the better of the first half but had nothing to show for it at the break and ended up getting beat. The lack of a cutting edge up front is very frustrating.
