The full article from Neil Ashton is now available: Here's some of it...

Mike Ashley is considering Alan Pardew’s future from his holiday home in Barbados after being told the Newcastle manager wants to quit St James’ Park.
Pardew, who ducked the post match press conference after the dramatic 3-2 victory against Everton on Sunday, hopes he will be allowed to leave by mutual consent to join Crystal Palace.
Despite a fixed £5million compensation clause in his contract, which still has six years to run, he will appeal to the Newcastle owner's compassionate side to let him walk away from the club after four years in charge.

Pardew has faced various campaigns calling for his resignation or dismissal by sections of supporters throughout his turbulent reign at the club.
Ashley, who did not attend the victory over Everton on Sunday, is plotting his next move from his holiday retreat.
The billionaire is wary of the upheaval if he allows his manager to quit the club and will also need to find a replacement prepared to work under his demanding ways.
Ashley could yet play hardball and demand the £5m compensation from Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish, but the Eagles are unlikely to agree to that.
Pardew is known to be frustrated after being told at a transfer meeting held around four weeks ago that there will not be any money to spend in January.
Instead there is the possibility that Moussa Sissoko will leave in January after Arsenal and Paris St Germain declared an interest in the France midfielder.

A couple of other newspapers now reporting it, too, plus Talksport.

Now on SSN.

SSN saying no compensation agreed but the move is gathering pace.

Ashton saying compensation is all but agreed, just i's to dot and t's to cross and seeing how close he is to the club I'm thinking he is probably closer to the truth.

I'd certainly be happy with this.

But things seem to be moving far too quickly for us...so I still won't believe it until it's official.

Me too.

I've wanted him at Palace for years, always seemed the obvious fit to me but the timing was never quite right.

Seems strange that the board would not give Pulis money to spend ( according to reports ) before the season , but are willing to pay out compensation to get Pardew

I was always under the impression that it was more to do with the wages of the potential targets involved rather than the transfer fees.

Good. Would love to see him given a decent run out in the first team.

been listening to Talksport most of the evening and it's amazing how many Toon fans have delusions of grandeur. just because they get 50,000 for home games they reckon they should be in the top 6 every year. with the constraints Ashley has put on Pardew he has done a fairly decent job there and his treatment has been disgraceful. no wonder he wants out. at least he's coming to a place where he will be respected.

although if he sells Murray I'll be annoyed!

You'll be on a winner there. As a West Ham fan, I remember Pards' transfer dealings with much affection. He was great at raiding the lower leagues for players who could not only step up to a higher level, but do it quickly too, which is what you need at this stage of the season. Sod the Redknapp technique of buying old, knackered pros looking for one last payday, go for the younger, hungrier players...

Thanks for that, Barney, as you say another excellent piece.

I see that Pulis is in talks at West Brom. I'd rather he not go to one of our relegation rivals.

Keith Millen has just confirmed in the pre-match conference for the Villa game that there's still a few minor kinks to be ironed out before anything official is announced with Pardew.

And it looks like Super Al will be bringing Andy Woodman with him.

Toon fan here, Shows the little differences between people, eh? All the fans I've heard are having a party!

I hope Pardew does well for you! But I find it hard to fathom how you notice the constraints on Pardew but not is poor league record since 2012. Funny that.

Pardew has a long term deal at Newcastle United and Crystal Palace have a had a high turnover of managers in recent years he might regret this move if things don't turn out well.
I hope so.
Fans of clubs fans criticise the manager when things aren't going very well, perhaps even Palace fans.
Newcastle fans always get more abuse from the London press and media for behaviour which is overlooked if fans of London clubs act in the same manner.

I do understand where you guys are coming from, if you're mentioning poor league form / performances etc then remember we had Warnock

the way I tend to see it, like quite a few others I think, is that some managers are better suited with certain clubs. Pardew at Newcastle never felt right to me but him at Palace does. Hopefully the Toon can find that better fit now and someone that can have a good rapport with the fans at the same time.

official announcement of Pardew slightly delayed as there are a couple of minor issues to resolve with the backroom staff, namely performance analyst Ben Stevens and goalkeeping coach Andy Woodman.
