Swansea has offered £7m for Gayle "to solve their goal-scoring problems" - you couldn't make it up!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...ght-Gayle.html
Gayle will score goals if he starts and plays consistently in my opinion.

Surely the only way we'd consider selling Gayle is if we had someone else lined up as a replacement? Would make so no sense to me otherwise.

Going to be tough today. Just about to leave for it.

selling Gayle without someone else coming in would be nuts!

today's team:

Hennessey, Ward, Dann, Delaney, Souare, Ledley, Cabaye, Zaha, Lee, Puncheon, Campbell.

subs: Speroni, Mariappa, Hangeland, Kelly, Jedinak, Mutch, Chamakh.

I knew it would be a tough one today but that was a well earned win.

Surprised to see no Gayle or Adebayor on the bench (which had me a tad worried) but I thought we did more than okay today as an attacking force. Unlucky to just get the one goal.

Zaha was on his game today, he had a very good match. As did Lee, the more I see of him the more I like him.

Only downer I hear is an injury to Cabaye.

swollen ankle according to Pardew. he'll have to be assessed but unlikely to play on Tuesday.

Zaha was great. Put some of those crosses on for Adebayor and we'll be happy.

I really liked Lee as well, I'd like to see him and Wilf on either wing some more while Bolasie's out.

Clattenburg was not good. Which is standard.

Yep. Should have sent off Wilson for the challenge on Campbell which stopped him going clean through, and didn't even book Ireland for that tackle on Cabaye.

The fans got it spot on when they sang “It's all about you,” at him.

zaha was class today... a cut above anyone else.

...lee, or chungy as he now seems to be affectionately known as was good also, as was ward.

decent win against hard opposition.... hopefully it can kick start our league performances again...

no gayle in the 18... rumours of his imminent departure could be true.

I knew we'd get one of the big boys.

not all lost though, Spurs away to Man City on Sunday Feb 14th and away to Fiorentina on Thursday 18th Feb, then us in the cup and home to Fiorentina on Thursday 25th. testing fortnight for them.

Really pleased with the result against stoke. I thought with them going out to Liverpool on Tuesday they'd be more determined to win.

And spurs away in the 5th round. Oh goodie, but kinda pleased that one of us will be going out though.

Let's hope that you're the one feeling guilty after the match this time and that the takeaway is your treat!

Congrats Plucky. Fingers crossed it's a double celebration for you that day.

I wonder if there will be any more activity for us tomorrow? Still strong rumours that Gayle will be sold. Will any one be coming in?

Thank you. Hopefully double celebration.
Yeah we booked it all before the dates came out.

I can't see us signing anyone, can see a few going though. Maybe a loan in attacking midfielder, cause always need them

The only rumour so far today is Speroni to Reading and Rob Green to us from QPR. Exciting times.

Spurs is tough, but it's easy to get to and we should get a load of tickets.

Congrats, but if everything goes well this season you may have to move the wedding to Wembley.

I'd rather see McCarthy go out on loan with Green coming in rather than Speroni going. McCarthy has been linked to Fulham according to Sky.

It's fine, my dad's already planned how to get to Wembley, and even figures if I turn up in a wedding dress, they may move us to the posh bit

Anyway, back to important stuff today, Pardew has said he'd be interested in signing Terry.
"I've bumped into John Terry on occasion and asked him many times to join me,' Pardew said. "He always sniggers at the suggestion.

"Of course I will ask one more time. I'm sure I'll bump into him again and ask the question."

hope the Terry thing was said tongue in cheek. we need a replacement for Delaney & Hangeland next season but not someone who is actually older than them both!

in his press conference today Pards confirmed that Adebayor will play a part in tomorrow nights game against Bournemouth. Cabaye will have a late fitness test, his injury was not as bad as first feared.

outside chance that Bolasie will make the Spurs cup game.

I assume it was, but thought I'd mention it anyway.

Hopefully bolasie is fit for the cup.

Don't panic, it was definitely said tongue firmly in cheek.

Reports now suggesting that Dwight Gayle is to sign a new contract to keep him at the club until 2020. I did not see that coming.
