Bottom of the league at the moment

Two shots in the first half , one on target

bristol city 4-1 palace

embarrassing. 7 conceded already. and it's no good anyone saying it's only 2 games in, this shocking form has been going on for ages... just 3 wins in the last 24 matches... i can't see any light at the end of this very dark tunnel we're in...

If this result isn't a wake-up call to the owners and management then I don't know what will be. There's talk of bringing in more loan-players before the deadline but I can't see players who are there for a few months or one season being the answer. We have one of the weakest squads in the Championship and we have lost our two opening games to two of the weaker sides in the division. And our next seven fixtures are Middlesbrough, Sheff Wed, Charlton, Forest, Cardiff, Bolton and Wolves!

A few months I'd agree, but one season is all we really need right now.

Anyway, I'm going back to the Olympics, that was much more fun than this season is turning into.

That is scary reading, atmosphere could turn sour against Wednesday if things don't change. Where will our first point(s) come? Can't see Freedman lasting til Christmas at this rate (taking the end of last season into account, obviously) but hope drastic action it taken.

But then what? Even if we were to stay up then next summer we'll be back to square one again. It's becoming more and more obvious that the owners are more interested in getting rid of the high wage earners and cutting down on outgoings in general to try and "break-even" rather than actually investing and making a serious challenge for promotion.

I won't say anything bad towards CPFC2010 as they saved our club but I do wonder what it is they are trying to do exactly. We cannot rely on loan players and academy players year after year and expect to stay up. I appreciate they are businessmen and they want to develop a self-sustaining club that they can then sell-on but who will be interested in a club with dwindling attendances, a stadium that's falling apart and possibly a team playing in League One?

And if we are in the bottom 3 or maybe even the bottom 6 come January are we really going to be able to hold on to Zaha, Speroni and maybe even Williams?

I do hope I'm wrong but it's worrying times ahead as far as I can see.

i think alot of what CPFC2010 have told us is smoke and mirrors. i don't think investing in the team is a priority for them and it wouldn't surprise me if they already have contingency plans in place if we were to get relegated. everythings a mess right now and i'm struggling to see where results are going to come from.

And just like buses...

Yannick Bolasie signs

Andre Mortiz signs

Could be great, or could be crap - but they're attacking!

Crikey!

Pleased with the Bolasie signing. Never heard of Mortiz so we'll wait and see on that one.

Still no striker in, though... ...yet?

Not looking good so far:

Middlesbrough 2 Palace 1

The BBC Live Text has stalled on my computer at 2:45 - except sometimes it shows a lot more for a few minutes!

Another predictable result , all well & good signing mid fielders , but we need someone who can score goals , not just from penalties . Easter is not the answer .

nail on head... and if we don't get one in we will continue to struggle... all well and good playing well or dominating games etc but if we haven't got anyone to put the ball in the net it counts for nothing...

...after todays loss it's the first time we've lost our opening 3 games for 39 years... depressing stuff...

And that year we didn't win our first game until November and inevitably got relegated!

The last 30 minutes was a vast improvement yesterday but I can't help but agree with the points being made about the lack of a goal-scoring striker. We have a week to bring one in, if we don't we may find the going very tough indeed between now and January.

The transfer of Victor Moses from Wigan to Chelsea for around £9m has been completed - will Palace get any of the fee? If so, does this improve the chances of buying a striker?

I think its 15% of any profit Wigan make, so it doesn't include the first £2.5m (which we sold him for) Plus only £7m Chelsea are paying is upfront, so it's 15% of £4.5m which is £675,000. Hope that made sense!

Thank you - can you buy a Championship striker for that sort of money, or would it be only a useful downpayment?

I read that we're bringing in a couple of Premier League loan players and making a permanent signing this week.

Here

Despite the results so far I don't think we will be in the relegation places at Christmas, when the table starts to take shape.

Take this with a huge pinch of salt but a mate that works in a croydon betting shop tells me they've had a couple of sizeable punts put on Ian dowie coming back as the next manager. Surely they wouldn't get rid of the Doog this quickly would they?

TBH I don't think we'll be buying a striker, at least not in this transfer window, maybe a loan signing though.

Just got to hope we get that elusive striker in - and one that can actually put the ball in the net!

I'd be amazed if Dougie got the boot. If we're still in the mire 10 games from now, struggling to even win a game, then maybe... but I think he has a while yet to change our fortunes around.

Paddy Mac is now out for 6 weeks with his groin injury.

Link.

Preston away tonight in the League Cup.

A number of new players settling in, with more to come this week - our season is just getting started.

Beginning tonight!

EDIT: Er, OK I kind of hoped for a better beginning than that... 1-0 after 2 minutes.
