Wow, I've been out all day away from any news and have just come in to hear this.
It's been on the horizon for a while but I'm surprised of the timing. Why wasn't this done earlier, why leave it till now? I wanted him to succeed, the last thing we need again is another managerial change but this had gone on far too long. Like Dougie I'll always think well of him but it's time to stop the rot and hopefully the new man will do that. Big Sam anyone? |

Allardyce seems like the only real option. I'd be fine with him, but loads will hate it.

probably should have happened after the Burnley match but it definitely should have happened after the Swansea game. maybe the Americans finally put too much pressure on Parish?
I'd be happy with Allardyce, Mancini or Rowett. but knowing us it will probably be Coleman or Hodgson. |

No to Hodgson. Another name in the hat - Jurgen Klinsmann. |

Yep, agreed. Time for a total clear-out. The coaching this past year has been nothing short of abysmal.
Hopefully the new man brings a whole new team in with him. |

been a long time coming... no other manager in the country could have clung on to his job for so long after such a shocking 12 months... big shame though as i was another who had really hoped he would be successful with us... big sam would be a decent enough choice for now... i would once again be confident about survival with him at the helm, i wouldn't be so confident with either hodgson or coleman... From the Independent: Quote:
Crystal Palace have already met Sam Allardyce and are ready to install him immediately as their manager, believing that he has a more progressive approach than Alan Pardew, who was sacked on Thursday after a disastrous run of results. Link.
The club’s billionaire American co-owners Joshua Harris and David Blitzer are thought to have been ready to install Allardyce at the start of the month, before Palace’s 3-0 win over Southampton bought Alan Pardew a further three weeks. They have been impressed by detailed plans which he has already laid out to them, including thoughts on how he will improve the current squad and how he will use methods including analytics to lift Palace out of trouble. The Americans have now been instrumental in offering Allardyce a two-and-a half-year deal, with an 18-month break clause. Palace will undertake due diligence on the 62-year-old Allardyce. It is a process which is likely to include a request for assurances that there will be no repeat of the kind of conversation which saw him dismissed as England team manager after in September, after claiming he knew a way around third part ownership rules. He is expected to offer the club assurances that he has learned his lesson after the sting by undercover journalists. There will also be negotiating required on the size of Allardyce’s backroom team, as Palace are already taking a substantial hit with a Pardew pay-off which includes an undertaking to pay his salary until he gets a new job - a minimum £2.3m on-going remuneration. His close friend Sammy Lee, recently released by England, is likely to be among those he will want to bring to west London. There will also be a new fitness coach. In his proposals to Palace, Allardyce identified the side’s questionable fitness and concession of late goals as a substantial area for improvement. |

If Allardyce does take over it would add a bit of spice to The FA Cup tie at Bolton

Today's press conference has been delayed, it was due to start at 1.30pm. Keith Millen will be taking it. |

Official announcement still to come from the club but it's being reported now that the deal is done. Big Sam signs a two and a half year contract.

Its mind boggling that any club is employing this disgrace of a man again, let alone so soon after his misdemeanors!
Hope Palace go down now, they deserve to, no morals whatsoever. |

This has got to be the quickest we've ever appointed someone after a sacking. That's progress already.

Look forward to seeing his January transfer targets. Should be a few on their way out too.
And hopefully we'll get to see the likes of Kaikai, Boateng, Dreher, Williams, Inniss and Croll in the future instead of offloading them on loan again. |

Left back has to be top of the list plus I hope a defensive midfielder, a decent No.10 and another striker (maybe get rid of Campbell too?) |

Excellent appointment (prob the most sensible along Jose and Conte to their respective clubs) and done in a speedy way.
Good on Palace on ignoring the nonsense surrounding Sam and the soap box jumpers. I did not think they would go down (but it might have been a close thing) but now they will be more than safe |
