It is all very unsettling for the players.

Lennie Lawrence has left Crystal Palace to link up again with new Bolton boss Dougie Freedman at the Reebok Stadium.

Presumably it means we're close to an appointment now?

Wonder if Fleming will be joining them eventually too.

Yep, crazy if this is true!

Annoying and mad, but good manager. Don't want to get too excited just yet...

Edit: All sounding very, very real! Some reporting he could be announced tomorrow.

http://www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/s...rt/10022320._/ Ian Holloway is set to become the new Crystal Palace manager.

The Croydon Guardian understands that the charismatic Blackpool manager will be unveiled tomorrow (Friday).

- from whom did the Guardian understand it? I wonder.

I shall sleep happy tonight

Palace identified the former QPR boss as the man to lead them into the Premier League after a remarkable turnaround for the south London club.
They will have to negotiate compensation with their Championship rivals - who are 12th, six points and eight places behind Palace - but Holloway wants Palace to make it happen.

I'll be delighted if we do get him. A much more inspiring appointment than say, Michael Appleton (no offence to him)

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/foo...w-manager.html Palace have agreed to pay the £400,000 compensation fee required and hope to name Holloway as their new manager before this weekend’s game against Blackburn Rovers.

Any possible deal is still far from done, with Holloway meeting up with Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston this morning.

Link.

Gutted if this is true. I've never bought in to then whole "cheeky chappy Ian holloway" schtick.
Think he got lucky, then found out at Blackpool myself.
Only time I was this upset about a new manager was George burley.

It's a shame that we got no compensation for Dougie going but look as though we will have to pay compensation for his replacement.

i was under the impression we did get compensation for dougie as bolton triggered a clause in his contract by meeting that price? pretty sure that cpfc2010 posted on the bbs website that bolton had agreed to pay comp...

Nice way to start the day.

I've never been a fan of his media 'character', but as a manager he's probably the best option after Coppell said no.

Good appointment imo.

Yeah, we definitely did get money for Dougie.

We have a new manager which is good, hopefully, for Palace. Good luck today

http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/sp...lace-1-5091456
IAN Holloway has today quit as manager of Blackpool FC.

The 49-year-old this morning left Bloomfield Road to take over the vacant managers job at Crystal Palace.

Keith Millen, who was Pool’s Development Squad coach, has also left the club.

Speaking to Palace's official website, he said: 'This is a fantastic opportunity for myself and a fresh start.
'It is sad to leave Blackpool as my time there was the best trip I have been on and leave very proud of what was achieved and I would like to wish them all the best. I just see this as too good an opportunity to turn down.
'I got great energy when I met the club's owners and just can't wait to get going.
'I am bringing in Keith Millen as my assistant who is a Croydon boy and he is as excited as I am about the opportunity.'

You are of course correct - it was just that it was quickly said that CP would be paying £400,000 compensation to Blackpool but I did not remember any figures being quoted from Bolton. I assumed that there was either no payment or only a nominal figure.

Let's hope that Ian will be able to continue Dougie's recent success.

Crystal Palace have confirmed that Ian Holloway has signed a four and a half year contract to become their new manager.

The former Blackpool boss has opted to bring in Keith Millen as his assistant manager.

Millen was previously the head of Coaching and Development at the Seasiders.

I'm pleased. Obviously time will tell, though. I remember being delighted with George Burley's appointment at the time!

That said, I think Holloway is much better suited to us and the kind of club we are. I wish him all the very best. Onwards and *hopefully* upwards!
