Midfielder Elliot Grandin has signed on a one-year deal from Blackpool.
Link. According to Steve Parish on SSN yesterday we're still aiming to get in another three or four before the transfer window closes. |

A few people are a bit negative about this Grandin deal. I think he may surprise them.
I'd be more confident about him than I would Owusu-Abeyie. |

Beat Waterford today 4-0. Good to see Gayle getting his first goal. Quote:

A nice banana skin for us in the 2nd Round of the League Cup. Our old foes Bristol City await at Ashton Gate.

Any thoughts about this rumoured stadium sponsorship....?
If it's true, it'd be the first thing the owners have done that I'm not happy about. 12Bet Stadium just sounds wrong. |

I'm all for stadium sponsorship if it brings in a bucket load of extra cash but I don't like the idea of the ground being renamed (if that is the case here) I'd prefer something like Selhurst Park sponsored by 12Bet. We shouldn't lose the Selhurst identity. Look at the furore it caused at Newcastle.
Hope the club will comment soon to clear things up. |

It works for new grounds but not sure it would for you guys...everyone knows it as Selhurst Park.
With teams change kits/names and of course us having loads of players almost given to us you do feel the owners are starting to dominate the game...but because they have the money no-one really dares challenge them. Plus Cardiff and Hull went up so the anger and any criticism will be quite light for now. |

![]() I think that's spot on Mark. If we were moving to a new purpose built stadium I don't think many would have batted an eyelid at having a sponsor as the name of the ground. |

Couldn't make it today.
Palace 0 Lazio 1 In their first game back at Selhurst Park as a Premier League side, Palace fell to a single goal defeat to Italian giants Lazio in a good workout for Ian Holloway's side before they face Tottenham Hotspur next Sunday. Having enjoyed the best of the opening stages, the Serie A side showed their cutting edge by scoring with their first attack after 12 minutes. Antonio Candreva tried his his luck at goal from 25 yards, and the ball bounced awkwardly in front of Julian Speroni which meant he couldn't gather it easily and goal-poacher supreme Miroslav Klose pounced to tap home from close range. Palace were dealt a further blow when new signing Jerome Thomas limped off after just 22 minutes and then Dean Moxey had to scramble a tame shot by Senad Lulic off the line as the visitors searched for a second, but for all their efforts in the first 45 minutes the home side came closest to scoring when Moxey overlapped down the left and crossed towards Aaron Wilbraham's path but a great tackle Giuseppe Biava cut out the chance. In the opening stages of the second half Speroni made a great block to deny Lucas Biglia when a fortunate deflection led to the central midfielder bursting through on goal as the visitors nearly put result out of sight, but having come off the bench at half-time new signing Dwight Gayle went close to grabbing an equaliser on 57 minutes when he played a clever one-two with Kevin Phillips on the edge of the area and turned a defender but dragged his shot wide of the near post. Roles were reversed nine minutes later when Gayle played in Phillips but the man whose goal gave Palace Premier League football couldn't net this time around as his shot was saved by a sprawling Federico Marchetti, and the keeper was soon called into action again when he saved the lively Gayle's volley from close range. With time ticking away, Ederson saw a header from a Candreva corner narrowly miss the target but one goal was enough for Lazio to clinch the pre-season victory. Palace: Speroni, Ward (Dikgacoi 46), Gabbidon (Ramage 46), Delaney (Boateng 77), Moxey (Jerome Williams 74), Jedinak (Wynter 69), Garvan (O'Keefe 46), Jonny Williams (Bolasie 46), Dobbie (Grandin 46), Thomas (de Silva 22, Gayle 46), Wilbraham (Phillips 46). Subs not used: Fitzsimons. |

Thomas went off injured and Jedinak with a massive black eye too!
On a positive, Chamakh was at the match and looks to have joined on a free transfer. Hopefully we'll get a few more in this week, we're probably gonna need it. |

i've been to a couple of pre-season games now and i'm worried. i hope i'm wrong but i think we are going to be way out of our depth. we look really short on quality. i'm happy with the midfield but we don't look strong enough at the back and up front we need more firepower. i can't see Chamakh being the answer to that.

I have to agree. Im not expecting too much this year but the last thing I want is to be embarrassed but that's what will happen unless we get a minimum of 4 in ASAP.
Being the whipping boy every single week will put the club back years and is just so short term. There are so many holes in the team right now its obvious to see. |

we've got nothing to lose... virtually everyone is expecting us to go straight back down including a lot of palace fans... we all know it's going to be extremely tough for us but hopefully we can give a good account of ourselves each week... even if we lose most of the games, just as long as those players walk off the pitch after 90 minutes having given it their all then i will be satisfied...

What's with this ding dong going on one of your forums between some of our respective supporters
Massive 39 page thread about us!. I would have thought both sets of fans shouting the odds have better and more important issues to worry about now. ![]() i think the logical conclusion would be to accept both sides have to agree to disagree (something our fans might have to do quite a bit as clearly the Pozzo model isn't popular)

i'd be majorly surprised to see this happen... i would have thought villa were more interested in selling him not sending him out on loan... that's why i reckon he'll still end up at fulham...

That thread makes me laugh. Some people do have way too much time on their hands!
Quite frankly Holloway was probably only saying in public what everyone else thought so its a bit harsh to "hate" him. Also knowing the typical football fan in terms of being fickle/bias if another team had the Pozzo system our own supporters would be up in arms so to speak. |
