i'd be majorly surprised to see this happen... i would have thought villa were more interested in selling him not sending him out on loan... that's why i reckon he'll still end up at fulham...
Looks like you are right. Holloway saying this morning that Bent is off to Fulham.

I wouldn't be surprised if because Luton are so far behind us the London teams like you and QPR are deemed rivals now1

Quite frankly Holloway was probably only saying in public what everyone else thought so its a bit harsh to "hate" him.

Also knowing the typical football fan in terms of being fickle/bias if another team had the Pozzo system our own supporters would be up in arms so to speak.
That thread is up to 51 pages now! Insanity!

Darren Bent changed his mind and chose Fulham last night apparently.

He was always a Charlton ******.

anyone really surprised that he didn't come? nah, didn't think so...

....so, how do we all honestly think we're gonna do this season? can we really hope to finish out of the bottom 3 or is it a case of damage limitation, go down, then come back up better and stronger?

Honestly? 17th is the best we can hope for IMO. Of course no one knows for sure but I can't see anything but a season of trying to avoid the bottom 3. BUT, I hope we have a real go at it and enjoy the ride.

Holmesdale Online back online , Also expecting a long hard season , don't think we have enough quality , but just hope we are not whipping boys every week .

A defender signed at last Florian Marange from Bordeaux on a one year deal .

How long is Murray out for?

His return could be key.

Blimey! And a pretty decent one at that!

Christmas/New Year is the estimate. Hopefully we're not having to rely on him heavily when he does return.

i'd agree with that. 17th would be a huge success.

meanwhile it's been confirmed that 12Bet will sponsor Selhurst Park... Link

team news for tomorrow and there will be no Jerome Thomas who is out for two weeks after picking up an ankle injury in the friendly with Lazio and fellow winger Yannick Bolasie has a hamstring injury.

Bah, it's a far too early start this morning.

Today's the day! Come on you Palace.

Palace 0-1 Spurs

think that's the story of our season told in the opening match. lots of work rate and spirit. hard to break down, hard to finish off but the lack of quality going forward will in the end cost us.

Did well but as you say will need to get a goalscorer because whilst it doesn't matter as such losing to Spurs your next 2 are the sort you'll want to get points from (Stoke/Sunderland)

We'll have Bolasie and Thomas back soon, we definitely lacked the width today having to rely heavily on Ward and Moxey getting forward down the wings.

Gayle is industrious and I liked the look of him and felt he worked better as a trio with Phillips and Chamakh rather than Dobbie and Wilbraham.

The defence were terrific and Jedi in midfield was immense and we made Spurs have to work really hard for their win.

Thought Moxey was unlucky with the penalty and on another day KG would have smashed that in to the back of the net right at the end but overall it was a decent enough effort from the lads.

And Mark is spot on above, these games we're expected to lose anyway, it's the matches against the teams that will be in and around us where we need to make it count.

We obviously lack quality, but there was a lot of effort. And 'only' losing 1-0 to a penalty is an encouraging enough result.

As Sattrega says: Bolasie, Thomas and Grandin still to come in on the wings. Campana when fully fit and Chamakh too.

Not a terrible start.

While I admit I always see the worst in everything palace I'm afraid I can't be positive about today. Spurs beat us without getting out of second gear and graft and guts will get us nowhere this year. Cheque book needs to come out for a marquee signing in my admittedly knee jerk opinion.

English football seldom exudes such an atmosphere as this, with balmy weather and bonhomie radiating from the stadium’s slopes. It lasted beyond the final whistle, too, Palace being accorded a five-minute standing ovation as they made their weary way from centre circle to the tunnel at the Holmesdale Road end.

Losing sides don’t often get that and, if the crowd can maintain such form, they might be worth a few points before the campaign is out. Not that the Palace players didn’t deserve it. Mile Jedinak in particular; he played a captain’s part in central midfield and was last to reach the tiled sanctum on this beguiling day.

Yet the Palace faithful were only too happy to fill the place and the comedian Kevin Day spoke for all as he concluded his column in the programme: ‘’Today we play one of England’s biggest clubs in a Premier league London derby and TV viewers the world over get to marvel at the Red and Blue Army. I am filled with love and pride.’’

As an occasion it was as delightful as that, a pleasure to share.

biggest problem today i thought was our poor passing... i lost count the amount of times we mislaid a simple pass... we need to sort that out as that will kill us in this division...

we didn't offer much going forward, garvan, dobbie and wilbraham were mainly inaffective... their replacements were much better... i would rather williams started over garvan and then replace him late once he's run himself in to the ground...

atmosphere was great though and it was brilliant to have top flight football back at selhurst... hopefully once we get everyone fit and get our strongest 11 out there we can really stir things up...
