How well we play or don't play is becoming irrelevant. No cutting edge + no goalscorer = no hope of winning matches.

Puncheon's penalty was so bad it was like he had a bet on himself to do that!

We were really good in the first half. Didn't make the most of it though, which has become the regular pattern.

we should have been well in command score wise at half time but this lack of a decent goalscorer is killing us...

...why is puncheon taking our penalties anyway, surely we have better options than him?

Ha Ha ... Pulis has a knack of finding poor penalty takers. We used Walters for ages.

Chamakh or Jedi would be my preferred choices until Murray gets back.

I see Puncheon and Warnock have had an interesting "chat"! Link.

almost half way through the transfer window already and still no new signings... even the links to players have dried up... all getting a little worrying again.

A trip to holders Wigan in the 4th Round of the FA Cup then for us after their replay victory tonight.

As a Stoke fan I'm looking forward to visiting you lot this weekend and giving Mr Pulis a round of applause. I'm also looking forward to experiencing your atmosphere, which certainly sounds very good on the TV. 3 points would be nice too

Really pleased about Williams.

The first of a couple of big games tomorrow, with Stoke and then Hull both at home. We have to take our chance!

Big win, massive three points.

We had to work hard for that. The defence were magnificent, the midfield good, just the usual lack of killer instinct up front. If we had a decent goalscorer we would have won more comfortably.

Pulis has worked wonders with our defence though. This is the same lot that were shipping goals all over the place under Holloway. Now we have become a difficult side to break down. If we can sort out the goal scoring problem we will have a very good chance of survival.

It might not have been pretty, but you could feel from the celebrations just how big that win was.

You're right about the defence Sattrega, it was incredbily nerve racking towards the end, but thinking back I can't remember Speroni having to do much at all.

not the best of games but i don't think any of us expected total football... but a big win and we showed alot of resilience again to grind out the result.

...we definitely need a finisher though, murray can't come back soon enough.

Back again licking my wounds .... Stoke were out Pulised yesterday. We should have known how to beat you but we didn't. Both teams lack massively in the finishing department but once again our suicidal defending was our downfall.

Great atmosphere (once you scored), and a spine tingling roar at the final whistle. Real good atmosphere in the town before and after the match too.

A fixture I hope we can re-visit again next year with both teams still in the Premiership.

It's a shame that with all those players we have few who can score goals.

I've lifted this from BBS / HOL for those that haven't seen it.

A few titbits from Steve Browett on potential new signings:

Jan 18: "I personally think that we have a decent squad of players already who are a great bunch of lads who give 100%. We also have an excellent manager and coaches. Performances against top teams like Chelsea, Man City and Spurs have shown that we are a good team and I'd not be keen on bringing in 6 or 7 new players. I expect we will sign 3 or 4 to strengthen the squad but I do actually believe that we could survive with what we have got if there were no injuries to key players.

Speaking with Iain, Steve and Phil today, I think that a few new players will come in but they will be on terms that are acceptable to our club."

"Tony would have liked some players in by now but he understands that, unlike some other clubs, we are not going to throw huge amounts of money away and pay whatever is asked. We will do the deals that are right for Palace and I'm sure that our sensible approach will pay off by the end of the window. I have total confidence in Iain and Steve getting in the right players at the right prices."

Jan 19: "As Steve stated in his programme notes yesterday, he and Iain Moody are working very hard on this and there are irons in fires. Signings will happen but we can't say when.

The sound financial management of the club will always be our #1 priority but don't worry there is a budget and we hope to spend it."

got to disagree with browett when he says he reckons we could survive with what we already have... we don't get a striker in and one that can actually score goals in this window then our chances of survival will plummet imo...
