It appears that there are rumours spreading of Pulis leaving.

But in more enjoyable news, Martin Kelly has signed.

It would make a change if we could go a season or two without some kind of upheaval & having to start again from scratch .

A joke that's taken us from Championship relegation and financial meltdown, to Premier League mid-table in four years.

Absolutely ridiculous. I know parish and pulis both have huge egos but to drop us in the toilet on the eve of a new season is as bad a situation football wise that I can remember at palace. Our rivals must be wetting themselves laughing.
I'm just staggered at this. Who's next? Not Moyes for gods sake?!!' |

and now what? the ONLY reason we stayed up and did what we did last season was pulis. not parish, not browett or the others, just pulis. back the man, give him what he wants, build this club in to an established premier league side. but no, we can't have that can we, not if it means spending some more money... total circus once again and all because of the owner... once again.
I just don't get the rush people have to see things as black and white. We really don't know what Pulis was asking for, so how can we judge how much Parish should give? The only thing we know is that between them they've left us in the shit with two days to go. Quote:

I imagine the players played a part in it.

Wasn't it virtually the same players that were 19th in the table, and looking fairly certain to be relegated, before Pulis arrived?
It was only November though when he arrived, and we had a similar record to Southampton's start from the year before. We'd picked up a bit in the few games with a caretaker in charge too. I still don't think we were certain for relegation. Although I'm sure looking forward to the pundits saying that again from this Saturday! |

Simon Jordan has never been one to pull punches when asked for his thoughts on footballing matters, and following the shock departure of Tony Pulis last night, the former Palace chairman was more than happy to continue the trend. Having been contacted by TalkSPORT for his opinion on the happenings at Selhurst Park, Jordan presented an argument that very few will have been expecting, given the historically frosty nature of relations between himself and our current owners in years gone by. He said: “Whether Parish is a difficult character or not, he makes the decisions and the football club has prospered under his management, so I think he’s earned the right to make certain decisions.” “If you’re put in a position where you’re the chairman and you’re called out by a manager, if you lose that battle it’s like a manager having a go at a player in the dressing room and then not putting that player down when the player gets up. “I know what managers will do, they will put you to the sword. If you don’t stand up and you don’t manage your football club properly, they will run havoc in it and then they will disappear into the ether when it least suits you. “Pulis is an established Premier League manager and a very, very good one. But by the same token, he was at Stoke for a few years and he was used to writing big cheques for Wilson Palacios or Peter Crouch. “Palace isn’t at that stage yet. If it is about transfer policy, I’ve got to go with the Palace guys because they’ve got a bigger picture to look at. Maybe they think staying up last year was a very admirable thing to achieve and lightning doesn’t strike twice, maybe they want to build a new stadium, maybe they’ve got a bigger picture. “But you can be sure that when it suits Tony Pulis or any other football manager, they will leave when it suits them and football club owners like these guys have got to deal with the aftermath.” |

To be fair to the board, Pulis did a great job with the squad he inherited. He has a history of spending big on big names and not knowing what to do with them. Would a Pulis team of his choice players have improved on what you already had? Quite possibly not.

I really don't know what to think about all this.
Last night, when I first heard, I was lost for words, then by the time I went to bed I was angry. Now, this morning I'm just baffled by it all. This reminds me of the early 90's. After finishing 3rd in 1991 Ron Noades had the chance to invest, to really establish us as a top flight club, he chose not to and two years later we were relegated. Now, I know that Parish and co are sensible and don't want to throw money around like Goldberg and Jordan did but this was a golden opportunity, the first in over 20 years to finally get ourselves established in the top flight and it seems they want to do it on the cheap. Surely some middle ground could have been reached here? And why is this happening just 2 days before the season starts? It's comical, it's farcical. The future? Moyes is a very good manager, anyone who says otherwise is talking out of their backside. He just wasn't the right fit at United and for what it's worth I don't believe he would be the right fit at Palace. Plus, I don't believe he would want the job. Tim Sherwood? I'd rather not. Neil Lennon? Hmm, not sure on that one. Malky Mackay? The obvious choice IMO. Has a great relationship with Iain Moody and they both did a grand job at Cardiff before Vincent Tan ruined it all. I'd be happy with Mackay. |

Does anyone make any money by investing in a football club? It seems to me that a club can be a bottomless pit and can absorb as much money as someone can throw at it. It might be good to have an owner with unlimited funds, but even then the funds have to be spent wisely.
I'm sorry to see Pulis go as he did a great job for us last season - I was hoping for a year of consolidation, but now I suppose we will be battling against the worries of possible relegation again, unless we can quickly have an inspirational manager who does not insist on trying to spend money that isn't there. |

mackay and sherwood the 2 early front runners to take over... i would prefer mackay.
tomorrow was going to be difficult enough now i'm dreading it... one things is for certain, the co-owners can't faff about getting a new appointment in, it needs to be done quick... still really pissed off with all this... |

Surely it's gonna be Mackay, especially with Moody already in place.

Would be making the best of a bad situation if you got Mackay imo, Sherwood would be terrible.

Dont fancy any of those mentioned. Keep the caretaker for a few games and see how it goes I reckon.

It's going to be Mackay from the talk I've heard. Not happy about that myself, really don't rate him and think he got lucky at Cardiff and was pushed out just as he was being found out.
So down about the start of the new season now. |

I'm pleased we've got a fun away day to start us off. We're not expected to win at Arsenal anyway, so the pressure's off.
Bring it on! |
