Gayle is the best finisher we've had since AJ.

he simply has to start every game not just on Saturday.

Heard a whisper that Harry Redknapp is being sounded out about jumping from QPR before he's pushed. Surely not?!!!

Ally is a talented up and coming manager who served his apprentice under one of the best and most esteemed Scottish managers, namely Walter Smith. Ally has got a real eye for spotting players in the transfer market also and develops and promotes youth players from within the club and blends them into the first team well. He led his team of Invincibles last season to the league title playing some beautiful football with a philosophy of attacking verve rarely seen in the UK.

Snap him up whilst you can as he's a Scottish Brendan Rodgers.
It's very easy to say all those positive things about him whilst he has a very easy ride with Rangers in the lower tiers of Scottish football, he completely unproven at anywhere near the top level.

There's no way Harry will keep you up, look at the funds he had at QPR two seasons ago and he still failed.

My thinking exactly. Don't want him anywhere near us. It's enough of a circus at our club without that clown.

can't see us paying out compensation for Redknapp. maybe for a manager in the Championship like McCarthy for example but not Harry.

all over. 3-0 it finishes. Gayle the star.

Comfortable win. Should be a morale booster if nothing else.

Hopefully this finally see's Gayle get in the starting XI for the League games.

As for the new boss, I genuinely have no idea who it could be or who it will be. I just hope we have someone in charge by Thursday at the latest.

Redknapp would be a horrible thought. But it'll never happen.

Delighted for Gayle tonight, he's such a quality finisher if we can get a style to suit him in the Premier League.

happy with the win... i can only echo the thoughts about gayle... top class in front of goal, keeping him on the bench in the premier league is such a waste...

...meanwhile the mirror reckons parish has had talks with steve clarke over the manager's vacancy...

New manager decision is imminent - we should be hearing today. Only two men in contention, Steve Clarke and Neil Warnock with Clarke the hot favourite.

Would be great if Warnock could come in as director of football with Clarke as manager.

Really don't want Clarke. He's dull as ditch water and looked out of his depth at west brom to me.
Would rather colin w than him.

Clarke's no longer a candidate according to Sky.

It's gonna be Warnock isn't it? I honestly don't know whether that's a good move or not.

BBC saying it's Warnock.

It is understood Palace chairman and co-owner Steve Parish felt Warnock was the best option for what the club need now and building for the future.

"Warnock has money to spend an discussions will continue over the make up of his backroom staff."

I liked him in his previous spell with us, if it wasn't for administration I was sure he would have taken us up at some point. As to whether he's the right man now, I'm not sure.

Love to be a fly on the wall when he and Puncheon meet up after their affray last season when Punch missed that penalty at Spurs.

We can assume Puncheon won't be on penalties for the foreseeable future.

Confirmed, by Neteller for some reason.

This feels very strange, but welcome back Neil.

Was that before or after Puncheon accused Warnock of improper dealings with players?

The penalty miss came first. Warnock said something along the lines of it was such a bad miss that Puncheon must have done it on purpose. Puncheon then retaliated on Twitter that Warnock used to accept bribes and it all got rather unsavoury.

Hardly the appointment any of us were expecting, and hardly one for the future. What Parish has to say over this will be interesting.

Absolutely horrific appointment, the other 18 teams (since Burnley are gone, yeah I said it) will be delighted with this one!

An appointment of Howard Wilkinson-esque proportions

It's Warnock you have to write off, his record is appalling of late at higher levels.

Burnley are goners, it came too soon for them.
