So, with everyone fit what is likely to be our strongest starting XI?

Will Ward be at right-back with Fryers straight in at left-back? Will Kelly be the right-back or will he replace Delaney at centre-back? What about Mariappa?

In midfield I can't see McArthur, Jedinak and Ledley all starting. So who gives way?

Will it be Chamakh and Gayle up front with Zaha and Puncheon out wide? Will either Gayle or Chamakh be dropped to make way for a trio of Zaha, Puncheon & Bolasie?

Choices, choices...

I think getting AJ back is brilliant. Think of the lift it will give the place when he comes on. Yes he's older now, injury prone, knees probably gone but how often do you get the chance to see a club legend back?
Easy to criticise his return of course but I can't think of a better fit to bring on players like Puncheon and Gayle.

AJ back as just a coach to help the likes of Gayle and Zaha - brilliant.

AJ back as a player-coach and taking one of the spots in the 25-man squad - questionable.

Anyway, here is the squad:

Wayne Hennessey
Chris Kettings
Julian Speroni

Scott Dann
Damien Delaney
Zeki Fryers
Brede Hangeland
Martin Kelly
Adrian Mariappa
Paddy McCarthy
Joel Ward

Barry Bannan
Yannick Bolasie
Adlene Guedioura
Mile Jedinak
Joe Ledley
James McArthur
Jason Puncheon
Jerome Thomas
Wilfried Zaha

Fraizer Campbell
Marouane Chamakh
Kevin Doyle
Dwight Gayle
Andrew Johnson

Players born on or after January 1st 1993 are classed as under-21 players and are therefore eligible to feature throughout the season despite not being named in the official 25-man squad (e.g. Jonny Williams).

Funnily enough, I THINK Salako does have a minor role within the academy, and Thorn is part of the scouting team.

Although I could have been told a load of lies however.

^ I believe this is true.

We're getting the band back together.

Just imagine the moment AJ comes on as a sub at Selhurst. Just one match will do me...

not sure what to make of AJ returning although I do like that he is also there to coach. Gayle in particular will learn a lot from him.

as for the squad - the goalkeepers are strong, the defence is ok. hopefully we don't have to call on hangeland or paddy too often. the midfield is looking good, our strongest for many years. up front we still look lightweight. hopefully Murray stays with us in January and we also get another quality striker in.

been thinking about it a bit... mine would be...

speroni
kelly - dann - delaney - ward
zaha - jedinak - mcarthur - puncheon
chamakh
gayle

it's really tough though... i've ended up leaving out fryers, ledley and bolasie...

full-time Palace 0-0 Burnley

decent enough 1st half and should have led at the break. 2nd half we just huffed & puffed. great penalty save from Jules. but not too many positives today overall.

Apart from a 15 minute spell in the first half I thought we didn't look particularly good and at times were poor. Lots of running around, quick breaks etc but there was no end product. Once we got to their 18-yard box we looked clueless.

We missed Chamakh, that was clear. Gayle and Campbell were non-existent for the most part. And dare I say maybe it needs to be Ledley back in for Jedinak. I've been trying to recall a game where Jedi has been as poor as he was today and I'm struggling.

Bolasie when he came on was poor, too. I lost count with how many times he mis-controlled the ball or simply gave it away. I thought Williams did well, though.

McArthur had a decent debut. I think he will settle in well.

Brilliant penalty save by Speroni towards the end to at least earn us a point. Much, much work to do, though over the coming weeks.

Well, after that Newcastle game we're back to having no attacking quality at all again. We did start well, but looked like we were never gonna score after those early moments. And Jedinak gave the ball away so often!

I love Speroni.

He is going to rip that division apart.

Some awful news - David Whyte who played for us 1989-1995 has passed away aged just 43.

Link.

I remember him well. A really skilful player who was a bag of tricks. Never quite reached his full potential, in his early days with us he was always in the shadow of Wright & Bright. But on his day he was brilliant to watch. RIP.

really sad news... no age at all. r.i.p. david.

yesterday was pants for the most part... i have minimal confidence in both our attack and our defence at the moment... better sides will rip us apart whereas up front i only see us scoring from opponents mistakes and errors... *heavy sigh*

Enjoy the trip Joe, although hopefully not where the result is concerned.

half-time 1-1. We've looked a lot better since we drew level. Bolasie's deflected shot hitting the bar, too. not sure what Campbell was doing on the rebound though.
