campbell looked like he was celebrating instead of pre-empting the ball hitting the woodwork... if he had done the latter he would have scored...
...first 25 mins or so we looked hopeless, everything was woeful... getting the penalty has woken us up... but will we continue like that now? |

all over. 3-2. nerve wracking 6 minutes of added time but we held out.
very good win in the end. still looking dodgy at the back but unlike last season this team has goals in them. |

Let's just pretend that those first 20/25 minutes never happened. After that it was a pretty good all-round performance.
Bolasie was terrific throughout, if only he could play like that all the time! He deserved his goal. It was obvious we would concede again at the end just to make us all sweat but overall I thought we were worth the three points. And it's a relief to get the first win. |

So so pleased for Bolasie. Been desperate for him to get a Premier League goal!
Big win that. |

Enjoy the trip Joe, although hopefully not where the result is concerned.

That Brighton bloke and Nugent upfront, that seems like certain goals against us on Saturday.
I wonder what kind of team Warnock will use in the League Cup tomorrow. A small chance of AJ on the bench, maybe? |

I think we'll probably see a few of the fringe players playing tonight - the likes of Bannan, Hangeland, possibly Guedioura and Fryers.
Maybe Doyle and Gayle up front to start with and AJ coming on later. I want us to take this competition seriously, a decent run in it will do us the world of good, I reckon. |

tonights line-up (which has been virtually predicted above)
Hennessey, Mariappa, McCarthy, Hangeland, Fryers, Zaha, Guedioura, Williams, Bannan, Doyle, Gayle. Subs : Price, Ward, Ramage, Kelly, Kaikai, Gray, Johnson |

1-1. No arguments, they have been the better side since we took the lead.

Just watching the replay of their goal, although a good finish, Hangeland really does make a mess of his *attempted* clearance.
