Oh please the same way Kelly Brook was hired, the same way Cheryl Cole was hired and then ditched from the US.

Publicity and also maybe she was the best he could get. Not many ''stars'' have the time to be doing BGT. Their schedule's are too packed hence why most of the time it's comedians etc... who judge.
Weird how SC said the BGT format didn't suit four judges as he knifed Kelly Brook in the back.

So why would Alesha want to join another Simon Cowell show then?
Because like I said in another thread, Cowells big lure is that he can open up the US entertainment industry to his friends and associates.

Why would she go from a rock solid show that trounces everything in the ratings for one of the Cowell vehicles, all of which seem to be dying on their arse at the moment. Red or Black... disaster which won't be back.....X-factor... crap this year........and BGT....another jaded old has been of a show.

Where is the guy who won it last year !!!!!........Anyone ?? People are getting sick to death of Cowell's crapola and yet, he must have offered her huge money to defect. It won't get her anywhere career wise beyond that, you really do have to be on a par with Adele or Coldplay to be successful in the music business these days. There is no room for average Joes and thats exactly what Alesha is.

BINGO although she is not a bad singer.

But your right about that. The music game is tough these days but then again JLS, Pixie Lott could be considered average and they are selling.

Cowell is very shrewd and if Alesha Dixon doesn't cut the mustard - she will be unceremoniously dumped. However, I think Britain's Got Talent will suit her far better than Strictly as she does have knowledge of the entertainment business and has sung professionally. She is not the world's best singer but she was a professional singer and therefore is qualified to be a judge on that rag tag show.

Lets hope so, it'll cheer the Mrs up. Dixon is a clueless clothes horse who has about as much dancing knowledge as me.
Good, then we won't be hearing any more clueless comments from you, then.

It doesn't matter who wins the Cowell shows - the nation has been entertained and bitten its nails down to the quick for a certain number of weeks, and this keeps the ratings up, and that's all that matters. Having a prizewinner on one's hands after a week or two must be rather an embarassment.

Err, are you under the impression that the USA are just waiting with baited breath for Alesha?

Depends what you bait the breath with. If it's Johnny Walker, don't drink and drive.

The US market is just totally impossible. But if female singers make it big over there, you lose the UK. Like Joss Stone.
Who?? yes, her, Joss Stone.

How anyone can love BGT is beyond me.

Most people go on and make a fool out of themselves.
If I'm being totally honest I love watching it with the DS forum. There have been some nights where I have been crying with laughter at the comments. However, the last two years haven't been as good. I think the programme peaked with Diversity/Susan Boyle and along with it the number of people who contribute to the forum.

Oh i agree deffo. People on DS are great and you are guaranteed for a good laugh.

I just don't like the way the whole Syco thing operates. It's so fixed and forced, it makes me wonder why Alesha would ditch SCD to join that empire. I guess 350k, is too hard to turn down.

I agree with you about Syco. X-Factor is no longer a talent show but a not so cleverly disguised product placement programme being used to advertise Syco's acts. Last year was when I finally gave up on it and although I still watch, it's only after SCD and Merlin. If Syco really wants to claim back Saturday night telly then he's going to have to persuade viewers that X-Factor is a legitimate talent contest once again.

I don't think Alesha is as big a coup as Cowell wants everyone to believe. Most people who watch SCD will be glad to see the back of her. When she first joined SCD I really wanted to like her and brought into the spin that she was going to be the judge who could "empathise" with contestants. However, she never really did that and when she spat her dummy out over Craig still being in the competition I gave up on trying to fathom out what her actual role was supposed to be! I wish her all the best and if she is getting paid £350k well good luck to her. I just hope she hasn't burnt all her bridges with the Beeb because we know how ruthless Cowell can be with people who don't cut the mustard.

Without doubt my favourite series. I actually voted that year and couldn't believe it when Diversity beat the juggernaut that was SuBo. Simon seems to forget that although people are interested in the judges, the public want to see talented performers get a shot at the big-time. So although in the short-term Alesha might be seen as coup, in the long-term people will judge the show on the talent it discovers and if the acts are as weak as last year then it wont matter who's sitting on the panel.

good points an the perfect way to point out the other 20 threads started on the back of this thread should all be merged into this one
