If this is true it could be better for her, like in terms of if she wants to make another go at her singing career and it probably pays a lot better. I think I would like Karen to replace her but it will be interesting to see who the BBC pick

If it is true then it is a great start to 2012 - should never been hired in the first place and won't be missed by many. The only thing I can't understand is why BGT would want her - she is not exactly overburdened with talent herself.
Do you need to be talented to be a judge on BGT?

Has Rupert Murdoch already started hacking twitter accounts?

Who has confirmed she has quit? Why would she? The programs do not even clash at all so why can she not do both? If this is true that is.

Surely she does not have a handcuffs deal with the BBC so is free to take on other work as she sees fit.
But going on past history why would you take the place of a 4th judge on a show that proved it clearly did not work with 4 judges unless you had a contract stating you would not be the one to go if 4 did not work.
The BBC have issued a statement confirming it.

BBC comment on @AleshaOfficial leaving Strictly : “We wish her all the best. She has done three very successful series with us & we look forward to announcing our new line up in due course.

Big mistake on Alesha's behalf imho. Wonder if Simon Cowell offered her some sort of deal which will make her viewable in the US?

It smacks to me that eh has gone after the SCD panel purely to try and distrupt the show for beating X Factor this year.

Result (assuming they don't mess up with whoever they appoint in her place).

I would risk probably an English pound on her replacement being a 'mature' woman.

As long as the replacement knows slightly more than nothing about dancing, then it will be a vast improvement.

I'm wondering if the BBC will be secretly relieved that Alesha left her of own accord - they got a lot of stick for getting rid of Arlene and hiring her in the first place and stuck by her because they didn't want to admit they'd made a mistake.

Having said that I had warmed to her last series as I think she'd improved as a judge - but I'm not sorry she's leaving - yes she was a great contestant but she should never have been made a judge although it wasn't her fault the BBC sacked Arlene.

I'm hoping they'll bring a female judge in from the ballroom/latin world or at least another area of dance but given the way the show is going I doubt it - I wouldn't be surprised if she's replaced by another celeb

The BBC have finally realised that Aleesha's limited knowledge of ballroom and latin made her an unwise choice to retain on the panel.

Can't see Arlene returning it will either be Karen Hardy, Darcy Bussell or an outside bet of someone like Louise Redknapp. It won't be Barrowman because that would mean an all male panel.

I'm not sure who else would be a contender? Camilla Dallerup possibly or Rachel Stevens?

I'm gutted she's leaving really. I loved her as a judge and will miss her very much. I hope the people who never allowed her a chance to shine are happy.

Please no to Karen, Camilla, Emma Bunton and definitely no to Arlene returning.

Wouldn't mind seeing Shirley Ballas have a go, an ex-pro who has judged professional competitions... and she's a bit bonkers too. In fact, I wouldn't mind her taking over from Len as head judge. No doubt, if she got the job though it would come back to bite me on the bum because she was awful

Judging by her recent chatshow appearances it's a good thing she wasn't allowed her chance to 'shine'.

I hope it's not Louise Redknapp - I don't think she'd be much better than Alesha - I've seen her on SYTYCD and I found her quite bland and uninteresting in her judging comments.

The BBC haven't "realised" anything - Alesha evidently has been made a better offer elsewhere and has chosen to leave Strictly.

I am disappointed she is leaving as I feel the panel is just right the way it is. People are also assuming her replacement will automatically be to their liking, All I can say is: be careful what you wish for. They could well be on the phone to Jennifer Grey right now..

Thank goodness......now please just get a judge with some sense and who can articulate a sentence. Actually I would like to see Bruno gone too and replace them with Karen and Ian but hey ho I can but dream!

The BBC really should have sacked her after her first series.

TBH with her limited ability at presenting she was given far too many opportunities to shine.
