Yeah she said on an interview once that she likes how the xfactor allows judges to be more creative.

In all honesty it's no surprise that she has joined Simon Cowell.

i was fairly indifferent to alesha, she was ok. but i can think of lots of worse people to replace her (karen hardy especially...)

as for BGT i have never seen it so have no idea if its a good move for her.

ALESHA HAS GONE

The idea that a previous contestant could have some useful comments to make on dancing was completely misguided.
I hope she isnt replaced by a previous contestant

Let's hope she gets replaced by someone with dancing credibility I dont mind an "unknown" we could get to know.

*scratches chin in intrigue* press comment states that the new judging panel will be announced shortly.

Does that mean more than one judge is being replaced?
or am I reading more into it

BGT is absolute guff and is in a downward spiral whereas Strictly has always held its own and done well, so I'm a bit surprised that Alesha's left SCD. The last time they had 4 judges it royally backfired.
I wish her luck and can understand as she might feel more at home on BGT, especially as she was always getting knocked by Strictly viewers (not without good reason I might add).

But BBC, please don't bring back Arlene!

I dont think there was anyone who thought replacing Arlene with Alesha would result in anything else other than perplexed scratching of heads. However Alesha did bring youthful glamour to the show and the show as a whole is a much bigger brand of entertainment than it was. As such the choice of replacement is very important, it will be hard to choose someone like Alesha but just as much it cant be someone dry and dance technical.

Its ironic because this was the first season where I felt she actually had something worthwhile to say rather than just sitting there looking pretty.

After three years I reckon she had ridden out the storm about her technical knowledge and tbh it did not bother me much in this last series. As for BGT, she has taken a real chance as if things dont work Cowell doesnt take prisoners as Kelly Brook found out.
Agreed re Arlene-maybe she could have come back if Alesha had gone after year one but the show is very different to what it was when she was on. It would be a backward step. She was also associated with SYTYCD which flopped-they cannot go for anyone related to that show.

I agree, though I got the impression that she was just waiting for a chance to go to BGT or XF.

Which is true. She has said countless times that she likes the judging role on the XFactor etc...

I wonder how Len, Bruno and Craig feel about her move.

I'm sure this won't convince anyone, but hey.”

Agreed - Arlene was knowledgeable but at times her leering over various male celebs was equally uncomfortable. I didn't mind Alesha at all.

I wonder if the replacement will be Karen - I'd prefer her over Camilla, I think.

Are any other names in the frame?

I know what I said earlier about Alesha not being able to join the BGT panel with Amanda Holden but I was obviously wrong.

I think this is a PR disaster for the BBC and SCD especially after SCD's better viewer ratings than the X Factor in 2011. Simon Cowell must be cock-a-hoop. Even though SCD runs against the X Factor and not BGT this is still a bad day for the BBC.

The question must surely be that Alesha obviously wanted to be involved in a show that promotes ordinary talent which can go on to find fame and success rather than a show that seeks to pit overpaid celebrities against each other.

The BBC will be under pressure now to get the right replacement for Alesha and I wonder whether Karen Hardy will be seen as high profile enough.

Seconded, or at the very least someone who knows about dancing/dancers. I really missed Arlene, and her passion for good dancing and routines. I'll never forget her being moved to tears because Rachel finally got it right.

On the negative side I LOVE BGT and can't see how she will fit on the panel.

SCD sucess in 2011 had nothing to do with Alesha and everything to do with X-Factor imploding.

How anyone can love BGT is beyond me.

Most people go on and make a fool out of themselves.

LOL - why one earth is Camilla Parker Bowles in the line up???? Does she know anything about dancing?

I voted for Kara Tointon- she's fair, she's likable, she's done dancing- a good choice in my opinion. A bit shocked about the news, as I was starting to get used to her.

So why would Alesha want to join another Simon Cowell show then?

'Losing' Alesha Dixon a PR disaster for the BBC?

I suspect that this is what it is all about - Simon loves controversy and headlines. He will go on about how much he has to offer her and be a big boost to her career - then she'll go the way of Kelly Brookes - just to create a few more headlines. Make a pact with the devil and you'd better watch your back.

Oh please the same way Kelly Brook was hired, the same way Cheryl Cole was hired and then ditched from the US.

Publicity and also maybe she was the best he could get. Not many ''stars'' have the time to be doing BGT. Their schedule's are too packed hence why most of the time it's comedians etc... who judge.
