We need to look at this logically and help steer the BBC the right way. (Well, we can try). Given that they announced they wouldn't be making any changes to the judging panel, Alesha pushing off will have left them in the lurch. Therefore they will be looking to find someone who has a free calendar. That could mean Fern Britton. Or Ann Widdecombe. And yes, I am serious.

Darcey Bussell.

Quote:
“Trained at the Arts Educational School and the Royal Ballet School[2], she was later employed by the Royal Ballet, where she was promoted to the rank of Principal Dancer and would become recognised as one of the greatest English ballerinas of all time.”

Was a guest judge on SCD.

thanks for that. For a moment I thought someone had mis-spelled Shirley Bassey!

I don't know if I want Karen to replace Alesha, but considering that she still makes appearances on ITT and even got promoted to red button this year, will she most likely replace her?

I would love Karen Hardy, I really really hope they don't replace her with Jennifer Grey, that would just be awful!

Hopefully the Beeb have learnt their lesson after Jennifer's dreadful guest spot.

Well, she obviously knows her stuff and I reckon she'd be a great replacement for Alesha.

the problem is, so many people have been rooting for her and the Beeb hates to listen to its viewers

Karen Hardy
Camilla Dallerup
Erin Boag
Anton Du Beke
Brian Fortuna

I hope to god they don't choose Darcey Bussell. Apart from the fact that her background is ballet not latin/ballroom, she is just soooo bland. She also lacks warmth and imho doesn't come across as especially bright.

And despite that impressive pedigree, was still totally useless on SCD. And I adore Darcey.

But did the BBC ever acknowlege she was dreadful? There's a wonderful article in this month's Woman and Home about Lulu and how being on SCD had won her legions of new fans!

I am not a fan personally and hope she doesnt get the job but even if I was I think the BBC will be looking for a bigger name than Karen and not just one of the ex pros.

She certainly is as much "in your face" as the other three judges.

But would her selection be controversial enough? The BBC will want a "headline grabbing" appointment, so don't look towards ex-pros for their choice.

Another thought I had - could they get Ola as a judge to annoy James (seeing as they've reportedly been sacked)

Contract decisions aren't made until the summer, so the 'reports' of them being sacked are complete fabrications.

I like Ola, she did quite well when judging the wheelchair dancing a few years ago, but I can't see her as a Strictly judge. I actually wouldn't mind seeing James on the panel, but presumably they'll hire a woman.

No, they haven't. Contract decisions aren't made until the summer, there was a non-story in a ridiculous tabloid extrpolated from the fact that the Jordans aren't doing the tour this year. So it's not fact, far from it, it's actually baseless.

Does anyone remember when Zoe asked Ian on ITT about being a judge and he responded "no, not yet" or something a long them lines, but it really had a few of us baffled...
