Because the overall views on balance from the thread are less easy to dismiss as the ramblings of haters as the regular posters in the main like BOTH if not always equally.
So when we dislike or are critical of John's behaviour they can't say oh well it's because they dislike him because most of us DON'T

Me too and good thoughts go out to any of the other regular posters here ALL of them who've had a difficult time recently too, sorry if I haven't commented on each one individually but as I don't really know you I felt a bit intrusive but the sentiments expressed by others who've offered comfort or help to you I echo.
and Jude I wasn't trying to be antagonistic towards you the other day just honest, brutally honest I grant you, blunt, undiplomatic, tactless, probably all of the above but also at the same time I think/hope you know me well enough by now and my other posts here to know that I really wasn't trying to be hurtful either, it wasn't in my intent or in my thoughts. Sometimes tone doesn't always come across in words the way you hear it in your head when you're typing and it's only when you go back and read something you think whoops that sounded a bit harsh, maybe I've just got a bit too comfortable here, what I mean is my friends pull me up short and vice versa all the time in real life, there's no animosity in it just an openess that means we can disagree and argue but still like each other anyway if not always everything we say and do. Hope this makes sense, I've rambled a bit.
You know one of the best things I like about this thread and always have apart from the obvious subject matter? No? okay I'll tell you, I KNOW you want to know, it's the people who post on it, past, present, future, the friendships made, the tenacity to not be sucked into taking sides and hating on one or the other, the fun, the arguments, the differences in opinion, the resolute commitment to certain point of view however much someone else might want to term it deluded or foolish or stupid just because it's not theirs, the sarcy ones, the romantic ones, the pragmatic ones, the unlovely ones and the lovely ones, I could never describe this place as LOVELY though, know why? LOVELY to me is a very bland word, it's like beige, no hues, no colour, no life and the very last thing this place has is no life 217 parts and counting dispute that
