Has Simon got this right?
Looking at it from Cowell's perspective it seems an odd move. The message boards of those newspapers read by people who regularly watch BGT are howling with rage at her appointment, seeing her as a Strictly failure. Personally, I still think she was pushed but I think she will do better on BGT where she has better credentials and will not be at such a disadvantage.
She's quoted as saying it wasn't about the money. If it wasn't then she is more stupid than I thought. It should be. Realistically, she has a limited career options/longevity, Simon Cowell is not known for being a supportive employer and the BGT may be reaching the end of its life. Curious story, this one the more I look at it. And I really shouldn't be 'cos I should be working. |

They also howled about Tulisa's placement on the X Factor panel and she turned out to be the best of the new judges.

I think Alesha could be ok on BGT actually. I doubt she could be a credible judge on XFactor but BGT is different.

SCD and Xfactor require more expertise as you have to mentor acts, have ball room knowledge etc.... |

BGT is more for laughs and people making a fool out of themselves. It is not hard to watch and act and notice if they are talented, or pressing that red buzzer if they are really rubbish. |

I always thought Tulisa will do well. I was surprised people were so against her. She is feisty and has worked her way up from Channel U with N-Dubz, to getting a record deal etc...
I don't really mind her tbh.

Another thing is i thought Cowell said 4 judges didn't work? This just proves he hired her to get one over on SCD. Had Xfactor beaten Strictly on ratings, he would never have near her. It's a business plan from his side imo like always with Simon Cowell.

You are right but BGT cannot be compared to XFACTOR, which for for me is a much bigger show. BGT is more about 5 mins of fame, whilst making a fool of yourself. Also the judges do not get to speak as much as they do on the XFactor, so i won't be surprised if we don't hear much from her, and the show is more about Walliams and Cowell.

I think Alesha will do fine on BGT.....its an easier job than judging strictly thats for sure.....unlike Kelly Brook (who briefly emerged on BGT 2 years ago) you do have to be able to string 2 words together, which Alesha can even if the grammar is a bit suspect. David Walliams is a talentless media luvie who would have disappeared a long time ago if he didnt keep doing charity marathons.

I'm pleased to say I've never watched BGT (or the XFactor) and the appointment of Alesha is not going to make me watch so I don't know why Simon has given her the gig, to attract new viewers or just to get one over the Beeb?!!

She is on BGT as eye candy. Bruno or Craig would have been much bigger defections, but I don't suppose Simon wants the competition on the panel if he is back on this year.

She's not only young & beautiful, but of mixed race, which Simons seems to have a penchant for. Winning SCD & becoming a judge has certainly raised her profile, so it's not as though she is straight from a girl band. And I'm sure Simon would like us all to think that he has 'stolen' one of the judges from his main rival. Unfortunately for Alesha, this could now mean a downward spiral - after she has served her purpose by generating lots of media speculation - because this is generally what happens when you sell your soul to the devil.

It's all true. She looks good and is a decent singer but then again that's about it. She deffo more suited to BGT than SCD, but i will love to see how long Simon and Alesha will last for.
Also can BGT really get people to buy her records. ) I can well imagine the promises that Simon has made to Alesha and I hope she benefits, because unlike so many on here, I have no axe to grind with Alesha, I wish her well - I just fear for her in the long term.

Cheryl was in her 20's her ''music stint'' and also BGT is different from the XFactor. Can Alesha promote herself on BGT as much as the XFACTOR for example? |

Didnt Amanda Holden say she would never allow another woman? You can see Simon and his PR team Licking his lips ate trying to create some sort of rivalry between the two of them - more reason to skip and bin this conceited piece of trash along with XF:yawn:

We know what she will do from past (SCD) experience.
That is, she will think any good looking man has an excellent voice. |

Maybe it's more about knocking back the opposition ie SCD. simon Cowell can afford to do that just for the fun of it. It might not affect SCD at all ie Aleysha won't be a great loss but it's a bit of power play.

Simon has never gone for quality, just what he thinks might work, if it doesn't he gets rid of them...fast Quote:

Alesha is no great loss to SCD. The show will continue without her. The BBC got hammered by the public and the press when they made her a judge but they stuck with her. At first her comments were banal, she was rude, her English came in for criticism and her laughter was dreadful. The BBC clearly helped her get over these issues.
On BGT it won't matter. Although, Cowell et al give some direction re reactions/comments, her personality will suit the show much more. I expect we see the return of the fun Alesha and the nastier Alesha, along with the guffaw laugh. Since she's gone down-market, Alesha clearly feels free to get peed on TV and share details of her shagging history in a 4x4 and in posh toilets. The former was fun. The latter, Alesha should have kept to herself. Trashy. |
