Just seen the line-up for Dancing on Ice (yes, I know I lead a sad life but it's pouring here). Comes to something when the only celeb you recognise is Rosemary Conley. And possibly a girl who was in Brookside. Don't know any of the other names at all. Talk about a young profile. I recognise more of the professional skaters!

You mean you don't recognize Charlene Tilton from Dallas?

Then it's old age for me at 27, as I knew hardly any of the Strictly contestants of this year (and previous years). Then again I don't live in the UK .

You know what, I didn't but only because she was so far back I'd known of her and then forgotten her completely. How old is she?

How did you manage to avoid Chesney Hawkes? And why didn't you share this ability with me?

Sad admission; is Chesney whatever male or female? And is he/she the person who sung one song that sounded as if it should have been recorded by Rod Stewart? Help!

"I am the one and only" was his claim to fame and ironically one-hit-wonder. He seems amiable enough.

I wouldn't say he sounds like Rod Stewart, and neither did you as it happens, but possibly he does look a bit like him in some ways.

Confession. I think I'm muddling him up with Fergal Sharkey!

Rosemary Conley has been trying for years to get on the show, bless her. I sure hope she will do better than Angela Ripoff last year.

I think Rosemary might be good, especially as an older woman, but I think she might struggle with no obvious fan-base, and possibly no performance skills. She seems nice enough, but I don't know if it will be enough for people to pick up the phone. I hope she can stay in for a bit, as there is a lack of older contestant this year, and no offence to Laila, but I think Rosemary will be much better!

I agree that Rosemary will most likely be much better than Laila but I rather think that Laila will be better liked than Rosemary. I have a feeling that Rosemary might be quite competitive whereas Laila knows she's not going to be in the competition long and is just looking to enjoy herself while she's there so, as long as she makes an effort and doesn't whine like Coleen Nolan, I think she'll be more popular than Rosemary. Besides, Laila presumably has a fanbase from Eastenders but I'm not aware that Rosemary has a pre-existing fanbase?

Don't forget Rosemary has slimming clubs etc so maybe they'll vote for her?

I hope you're wrong but Laila may be kept in by EE fans and also as a joke contestant - she's already annoyed me though by her I want to leave after a couple of weeks attitude whereas Rosemary seems lovely and is loving being part of the show & she'll work hard at least. Then again I never understood the popularity of Coleen.

Was surprised by how well Rosemary has come over as I thought she might be the Edwina Currie of DOI! But she seems very friendly. Could never stand Coleen - not sure why, just something grated.

I agree. Getting shades of Coleen/Todd from her already. They were talking about DOI on my local radio station the other day and everyone was saying how they were going to vote for her.

That makes me feel better - I'd heard of Conley, Tilton, Hawkes and Cut Price Beckham
