I'm sure it is hard, but I don't think anyone was claiming she'd be alright because she's a woman being lifted, more that she's got substantial experience of dancing and being lifted will therefore come more easily to her than to most of the other women.
As a male dancer come skater, there's no getting away from being a solid skater. Even if Jeremy could do the lifts with ease on dry land, he didn't have the stability or skills to lift someone whlist skating. As a woman who is good at being lifted on dry land, you only need to be a so-so skater to get away with it. The take-offs and landings might be a bit clunky, but you can get away with it.
Of all of the women on the show, she's probably the one who will come into it the best at being lifted. That doesn't diminish the skill of being lifted, but merely acknowledges that she was (and presumably still is) a very talented dancer.
I happen to think she's a better skater than him anyway. I feel a bit sorry for Jeremy, as he'll always be remembered as someone who we all expected to be good, but wasn't. However, he does serve as a reminder to all of us, and to the contestants, that there's a lot more to dancing on ice than being a dancer with some ice skates.
