Did the BBC pull the wool over our eyes? Is this why Alesha has walked out?

If I have, please accept my apologies. I spend most of my days in forums such as this, and I'm aware that I've often been at fault in misunderstanding the motivation of a particular poster.

I suspect that there was no overrunning problem. From my memory of watching the show live I certainly don't recall anything happening which would have necessitated the omission of the judges' analysis of the performance for the first time in the history of SCD.

Somebody reported that a technician had told the judges that the show was running late - but if that did happen imo it was only for appearances.

I haven't bothered to look at the video again, but I strongly suspect that Bruce was reading that long-winded joke from the teleprompter. Had there truly been a delay one suspects that the teleprompter would have been telling Bruce to leave the joke for later, and to go straight to the judges' analysis of Harry's Charleston.”

Hang on a few pages ago you accepted that the show was simply overrunning and everybody was having a group hug.

What has changed between then and now?

I only today realized what your reference to "Terry" was all about.

So ..... we have this poster named Terry who seems to offer nothing but unsubstantiated opinions. Then I appear, and offer arguments which are almost invariably supported by reasoning. But it didn't fool you, did it? You instantly found me out as Terry posting under a new id.

How do we know Alesha wasn't sacked? Did you see her on Alan Carr two weeks for the final? She was as drunk as. Would the BBC have been happy with that?

Interesting that the BBC didn't seem bothered when Alesha tweeted she was off to Syco for a meeting.

Harry won, not because he was the best dancer, but because of all the little McFly fans who wanted to see them all butt naked on their Twitter account, voted for him (the boys said they would pose naked if Harry won SCD).

Strictly is no longer a dancing competition and hasn't been for a very long time. For the record, I think Chelsee was the better dancer in the final three and certainly the most consistent across the series. But as long as there is a public vote, then you will always get results you may not agree with.

Alesha left because she got a better offer. No conspiracy.

Yeah but that was a late night entertainment show. I don't see no problem with what she did that night. She was a bit tipsy and that's it?

She didn't really say anything controversial or rude. She always talked about the XFACTOR, so no surprise really.

I give up... I thought we had put this thread and its subject to bed....

I might have known...

Come back Terry - at least you change subject...

For the record for me, Chelsee was probably the most consistent across the series UNTIL the final... Then Harry was the best.

and yes, McFly clearly read their fans well with that pledge!

Time of the day is irrelevant. She was on telly, drunk...and a BBC employee at the time. Not really the right image is it? For a public sector employee? There is more to Alesha leaving than meets the eye...me thinks. I just hope the BBC replace her with a dancer who is qualified to judge others dancing, not a singer, a politician, or an actor...but a dancer.

For the record, Harry was the right winner. He went on a 'journey' and was consistently good. Chelsea's jive was excellent mind...but she peaked early. Harry peaked at the right time. Delighted he won. What a nice guy.

But wasn't Bruno & Craig a bit tipsy and talking off key? Also a lot of people thought she was hilarious etc

What do you mean there is more to Alesha than what meets the eye?

Craig and Bruno were fine. They were trying to control Alesha!

We can all be "hilarious"...but in my view, she was unprofessional on national television...made worse because she was a BBC employee.

I think there is more to Alesha 'leaving' than we are being told. The timing of her leaving also rings alarm bells for me.

What part of "human being leaves £100,000 job for £350,000 job" are people still struggling to understand?

Interesting how desperate some people are for it to be the Beeb who sacked her. They didn't. She got a better offer and left.

I really don't understand the proposition that they are BBC employees.

They are not BBC employees. They are contractors - contracted by the BBC to perform a set of duties over a fixed period of time. What they then do a) outside their scheduled duties and b) in their personal lives (within reason! and being slightly merry and a tad indiscreet is well within reason) is not relevant to the BBC.

As they (dancers, judges etc) are contractors and not employees, they therefore cannot be sacked if their contract has run its course. The BBC may choose not to offer them a contract again but that's all.

Alesha has accepted a contract to do a different show (for over double the fee) and will therefore not be available for Strictly next year. No sacking at all.

It only would for me if it were in the middle of the series rather than at the end.
Isn't that when people usually leave if their contract expires then?
